They are both group 12. Not sure how the ratings are calculated. Suspect how often they are crashed plays a role and even though the Monkey is only a 125 it might be involved in more accidents.

NCB on first bike but not second? Great that you have to build up a NCB on each vehicle but lose it on all if you claim...

Renewal is up on my 2016 R1, no changes to my details at all, other than another year no claims, current company won't insure anymore, few others now not quoting and cheapest quote is well over last years premium.

I'm certainly not a fan of insurance companies at the moment.

Insurance companies are the background reason why councils say, "is there a reason why we need to keep the road open"

They are the reason why the country is primarily more interested in health and safety than life.

They make up whatever rule they want, share the pot round every year, forcing people to continually price check every year instead of treating non claiming members fairly and reasonably.

They make billions from claims yet you pay more every year for your premium.

And there must be hundreds more reasons.

So yes they are the scum of the earth as far as I am concerned

On my renewal notice for this year it said the current provider wouldn't cover me so the provider has been changed and it was £100 less.. i don't hate insurance companies but it would be great if there was a bit more transparency similar to a credit score so you can see what the risk assessment is.

Get a life you sad little individual, I drive on the roads, ride bikes off road a fair bit know lots of bikers, you are just the kind of biker I loath. One upmanship, superiority, I am better than you attitude, you don't know coz you don't do it, you are not in our special "club". Seen it all before, head shaking, gesturing, kicking wing mirrors, you are not the only people using the roads, yet some of you think the whole road is against you. It;s rather worrying.

Maybe that's why you are often hated by some road users.

We all use the roads, we all have these issues to face, just read the post not the username and try and be a little more respectful, reasonable and less of a childish little boy

Monkey is a fairly unknown entity with little insurance history so at the moment it attracts a premium , did you take advantage of the free tracker?

Very simple answer, yes.

Though I would kill for insurance quotes such as yours mine have been nothing short of laughable from my 5 years of driving (17 years and a month to 22 years and a month old).

1st Year Vw polo 1.3 Coupe (55hp 1992) £2,500
2nd Year Same car £747

4th Year Audi S4 B5 (no mods) £1,700

5th Year Same car £950...

I have even been looking at getting an Audi R8 or an aston martin V8 vantage which costs £900 or £1,100 respectively for my fifth year which I am going into now. Makes zero sense how they calculate their prices. Complete transparency on how quotes are calculated would make for VERY interesting findings I would imagine though I appreciate this perhaps would be unfair on the insurance companies in terms of competition. Still not very fair on any of us just having to put up with the bull they come out with now!

I just cant find any reasonable reason for the extortionate leaps in price yes age but a year warrants a jump from £2500 to 747? worth noting as well no points, no convictions, policies always in my name and I am very knowledgeable on how to keep prices on insurance low.

Rant over... sorry you got me going there!

I have no idea how insurance prices are calculated, but it's easy to imagine why there would be such a leap. Think of how many 17 year olds must be claiming on their first car after a prang, and how many change to another car after that first year of stupidly high insurance quotes. Now think of how many 17 years olds don't claim and keep their 55hp car for another year.

If the insurers are less likely to pay out, the quote is cheaper. just like you can insure a barge cheaper than a typical first car, because there are far fewer claims on those. Same logic applies to a powerful car you just bought, compared to one you've owned a while.

I'm not saying the figures are justified, just that there is logic to the price jumps.

I fully appreciate the "logic" but the gulf is fking ridiculous...
I wouldn't have been as angry probably if the 2nd year was like £1500. Its worse for me that they can insure me for £750. Similarly with the gulf of £1700 down to £950? 4th year to 5th year? Outrageous

Personally, I would be hating the useless drivers who cant drive in a straight line and hit stuff regularly requiring payout. Also those that claim spurious personal injury claims because they slightly moved their neck a bit in a 2mph impact. And those criminals that deliberately cause accidents to make claims. As well as people that write off their cars to get a better payout rather than scrap it/sell it.

I do not hate insurance.
I would not even call it the "necessary evil".
I paid premiums, but I also got a lot back from insurance.
