2004 suzuki ignis sport..... Again
Discussion
As per the short but sweet swift readers thread I have bought another ignis sport.
Not entirely sure how far it'll go. All I know is its a lot more fun to chuck around the lanes than the previous swift or fabia was.
Back to 3 day fuel range but can't stop grinning

Quick lowdown
Mot till Feb
110k miles
Pretty much every visual extra specced from new some good some bad. I'll be putting my own touches on things
Needs rear exhaust section and two outer cv boots.
Brakes could do with a deglaze of the pads
Bodywork is average
Things will be done as and when needed/time allows

Could be joining you now the up gtis are filtering through.
The ignis is certainly different. You have to drive one as from the outside looks like a souped up shopping trolley. With a few tweaks becomes extremely fun and rewarding to drive and can cover ground surprisingly quickly if needed

So I thought I'd check in.
Done a week now and it hasn't missed a beat. There are a few rattles and knocks to be traced but overall I'm over the moon

Few things to note.
Outer cv boots need doing
Clutch pedal is stiff
Top mounts knocking on rough ground
Exhaust rear section in poor condition
So plans are:
Swap decent shafts over & rebuild old ones with new joints & boots
Modify the hub pinch bolt
Top mounts
Decent tyres
Braided hoses
Stainless rear section exhaust
Short shifter and weighted knob
New clutch cable
General service
General tidy up of the bodywork
All will be done in no particular order apart from the servicing which is always my first port of call
The air con system is dead and its not what these cars are about so I'll set about removing that for a bit of weight saving aswell.
Went down for a nosey down the unit today had a bit of a tidy up and had a look round this bugger

Lots of plans, little time and money is tied up elsewhere at the minute. So it's on the back burner for time being

I'm looking at hankook I cept rs2 as I ran them last winter on my fabia and was very impressed with them.
Al hough matching at the moment it has grenlander? Or similar in at minute and it's just a little too unpredictable at the moment.
Ill be swapping driveshafts and top mounts aswell so that could be contributing to the odd behaviour aswell

Took advantage of the 40% discount on braided hoses

Ordered transparent red as I'm abit of a big kid
This Saturday I'm booked in to have my rear section replaced with a custom stainless piece
I have a timing chain kit coming for the blue track one. It'll be quiet now as budget has run dry now this year unless I can sell some bits off and raise some extra pennies.
Car is running faultlessly adjusted aux belt today as it was starting to squeak in cold snap.

Fantastic little cars OP. Really enjoyed mine and had one of the most fun drives I can recall chasing a fully prepped road rally micra through the Brecon lanes one wet windy night. The 1.5vvti loves to rev and the handling is superb, I'd love another one, very underrated/anonymous car.
Not checked in for a long time still running round in the ignis.
Just ticked over 115k miles now.
Apart from a new aux belt, oil & filter change, rear wheel bearing and swapping a good shaft in car has ran great touch wood.
The top mounts ideally need doing but not essential at this time
Backbox has blown a weld so going into be repaired.

Fitted some black mirrors as one of the original silver ones were damaged

The mesh grill has been sold and replaced with a black standard grill as they go for crazy money.

Also got a black spoiler to fit which should tie in all the black bits nicely
There were some questionable chrome covers on the boot handle, door handles and door pins. These have all been removed now.
Rear wiper packed in and the badges were full of algi and moss inbetween them so they came off aswell

Ive ordered some nighteye led bulbs for the headlights and will be refurbing the lens as they are badly faded
Car was recently rear ended in traffic unfortunately and is now a cat n I got a very good pay out which I'm more than happy with and got to keep the car aswell.
Although I've decided on my next car untill I find the right spec I'll continue to look after the iggy and do the odd improvement so I've treated the car to a suzuki sport front brace

Pick new car up on Sunday so this is now surplus to requirements. It has done me proud and I'll be sad to see it go but onwards and upwards.
Eventually got round to giving it a wash and refurb headlight lens last weekend. It's a 10ft car up close it's got its battle scars but I have grown quite fond of it tbh.

If anyone fancies a punt. It's on ebay and gumtree pretty easy to find it.
