Anyone use V Power diesel in their Porsche?

Just wondered if anyone actually used this stuff and if there was any noticeable difference or benefit over the standard liquid?
Think it works by lightening your wallet......... .............more seriously, there are many contradictory views on this. Some say the fuel is coming from same refineries as Tesco, Morrisons, etc. Others (including Shell technicians) say they have unique additives which keep the engine's internals cleaner. I do try to run a full tankful of V Power whenever I do a long (200+ mile trip). May have no real effect, but makes me feel better.. :-)

My Car feel dead on 95ron, so vpower all the time.
Anything else it does is a bonus , but my car is just faster and more responsive with 99 Ron.
I’ve always stuck V Power (petrol) in my cars because it says 99Ron under the fuel flap. I just wondered if it was proven the diesel equivalent was better. It’s for a Cayenne 4.2 V8d.Anything else it does is a bonus , but my car is just faster and more responsive with 99 Ron.
I always try to put V-Power petrol in my 981 (but getting pricey now!) due to the 99 vs. 95 Ron boost, but I think there's no "power" difference with the diesel, just better cleaning, as here: https://www.shell.co.uk/motorist/shell-fuels/shell...
I stay away from supermarket fuels altogether now, only using Texaco, BP, or Shell, since my wife's diesel BMW X1 fell ill on a supermarket diet and the very experienced BMW technician correctly guessed that this was the cause.
Holding the EGR valve in his hand on the drive he said accusingly "have you been using supermarket fuel?"
He then explained why not to, and only to use these three. I asked him if V-Power diesel was essential for the X1 and he said no, the standard stuff is fine.

OP: cannot answer your question & neither can anyone on here really.
Remember they did a premium vs F1 fuel test on Top Gear a few years ago. Was shown that it was a bit better (granted not diesel).
Would just be guided by what the fuel filler cap/manual says. If it says 98 RON then don't know why people go for less. Manufacturers tune their engines to work for a specific octane rating.
Whichever way this is looked at there are going to be arguments for and against, this could then go out into tyres (N rating or not), OEM brakes etc

This is an interesting debate. My father-in-law has spent the whole of his adult life designing engine for F1 cars, along with engines for other race series. He thinks anyone who spends money on higher octane fuels for everyday use is mad, arguing that modern cars’ ECUs will adjust accordingly. Any performance gains are negligible and drivers will simply be fooled by the placebo effect.
I hear what he’s saying but I simply can’t bring myself to put anything less than 98 in my tt.

I had to do a quick google and apparently diesel has a cetane rating, this is a measure of how easy to ignite the fuel is and the how good the combustion process is.
It doesn't seem to relate a higher cetane rating to being able to extract more power from the fuel as a RON rating for petrol does. Maybe a simplistic view but v-power diesel doesn't seem to equal more power but improved/reduced emissions.

it's a back and white debate though for petrol cars.I hear what he’s saying but I simply can’t bring myself to put anything less than 98 in my tt.
its night and day in a petrol car, 95ron over 99 , yes the ecu will adjust, but I just paid £140k to have 500bhp ! paying 5p more seems daft not to.
but for me I notice throttle response and how the car picks up.
So sadly what ever your father-in-law did it he seems a bit clue less to the pros of 99ron over 95 which is odd as race cars use 102ron and all his designs and ECU maps will be tuned to take advantage of 102 !!
It's been tested many a time and you get more BHP with higher ron fuel, cheapest upgrade you can do to a car imo.
today when you tune cars you can choose what map you want and that relates to what petrol you use.
on my golf as an example BHP from crap fuel to good goes from 357bhp to 381bhp and 366lb/ft to a massive 392lb/ft all else being the same !
even on a stock mapped car you see 15+ bhp and >15 lb/ft from one fuel to another.
placebo effect my arse lol !!!

even my GF can tell, she thought her car was broken and stuck in eco mode, she hates spending money on petrol so I was shocked she switched to better fuel over a dead pedal.the pick up in my Golf is night and day, I had to fill up the other day with Sainsburys as I got to Shell with 3 miles left and the tills were closed ! so limped to the next station.
I forget the next day as I never use crap fuel and I myself was trying to go though my modes working out why my car felt utter s
t.I then remembered I had to fill it up with 95 RON, that's twice I have been forced to do this and twice I noticed the next day how s
t the car is on lower RON.I also had to use 95 BP fuel once and the car pinked !!!
I get zero issues with V power, it never pinks, it's pick up is 2nd to done and it's proven you do get a real BHP increase. not that you would notice that, I only notice the throttle response. but on paper RR show a 15 bhp gain.
Going back to the OP, I've tried the Vpower diesel in my daily (not a Porsche). I didn't expect to feel any extra performance (it's a diesel chugger after all
) but thought I might see even better fuel economy (already average 42 mpg in it). But no, fuel economy after two tank fulls was exactly the same so I stick to the cheaper regular stuff.

But I can and my GF can, it's that simple, you cannot go around telling people what they can and cannot tell other wise you are calling not only me a liar my GF also a liar !It's very clear the switch between fuels, what's more annoying is the switch back take over 2 tanks to get the performance back, the ECU seems to knock it back straight away, but takes it's time giving you full power when you re fill up with good stuff.
I cannot even remember what I did yesterday let alone what fuel I put it so for me to think my cars f
ked and for my GF to think the same without even knowing what fuels in it it's a massive change. She was quite unhappy with here mini on crap fuel. and I thought my car was simply in eco mode the change is so big.I live in my cars as I do 100 miles a day, I am very sensitive to any change, I know if my tyres are 3psi lower as an example, but the fuel thing is night and day for me. I also state I can very easy feel 40kg in my car and you cannot tell an extra 40kg, so I think you might be dead and have lead feet, just saying.
