E63 630i Sport rear light leds

I have a single bar of leds not working on both sides of the rear lights...both different levels. Ordinarily, you wouldn't notice immediately if it wasn't pointed out.. but to me, I notice immediately!

Question is, are they repairable.. I was told not, and that I would require the entire rear light(s) cluster replacing. Really?

Lights not turned on, but shown just to remind of the design. Thanks.

Hi, did you ever find a fix to this problem other than changing the complete unit?
I have a 2010 lci with the same problem.
