Let me say little bit around the background.
Need another car (soft top, no need for any practicality) for daily commuting, only A road and 10% B road
Due to nature of my job, can not have any offence (including traffic), so NSL top
Have test drive both F57 JCW and F23 M235i (both used)
Would I better stick with JCW as I hear many owners say M235i only come alive at silly speed

Welcome any feedback

I always saw the M1/235i as straight line rockets. Not bad, but not particularly great in the driving dynamics stakes. The JCW will be a lot more fun on back roads as standard.

Some M4 suspension bits, strut brace and an LSD turn the beemer into a different animal though...

I say this from a mere mortals perspective rather than a driving god. I would often become convinced the M135i was going to just bounce itself off into the bushes on straight but rough/bumpy B roads. it was most fun when sat on the drive revving it with the windows open.

As for your law abiding predicament. You can still get into plenty of bother in a JCW. Despite not being the top model a Cooper might actually be more fun.
