Central locking switch on door release knob

My Chimaera came with lots of lovely wiring challenges and one of them is the central locking switch on the door release knob which isn't working. The top is cracked but it functions correctly as a momentary switch and the wiring to the door solenoids is present.
Could someone please confirm if the switch only locks the doors? The owner's manual suggested this is the case but I thought I'd check.
I might see if it is possible to hook a press once for lock and press again for unlock circuit but that might be too involved. Has anyone done this and could share a circuit diagram?
Finally, is the replacement switch still the RAFI 1.15.106.502/1500
?

The button only works the lock function.
If you wanted it to do 'Unlock' as well then you would need some sort of latching relay.
Both lock and unlock functions are by way of earthing the required pin on the central locking module so the relay would need to change between the two. However I suspect it could quite easily get out of sync.

My button also only locks the doors. But, it's only when you open the passenger door that it unlocks. If you open the driver door, nothing is unlocked.
I've cleaned the switch located at the bottom of the driver door but the issue seems to be between it and the locking central.
And, as you can lock accidentally, with the elbow, I've already experimented the loneliness of the Chimaera owner, staying outside of the car, keys inside and all door locked

So, if you find a way to unlock also using this button, do not hesitate to share.

Upgrading to a modern alarm can give you an auto lock/unlock feature.

As others have said it's all too easy to bump the switch with your arm/elbow, with the doors in lock mode if the driver jumps out and shuts his door he'll be locked out, this actually happened to me a couple of times and many more times I realised before getting locked out.
As I really have no need for an anti-carjacking button and given the issues it caused, I simply disconnected the damn thing!

Mine doesn't work. I looked into replacing it (the power is there) but it was £12 I think so haven't bothered. I haven't missed it.
I've had 3 Chimaera and I agree you set it off accidentally. Especially if leaning across for something. However, if you rotate the knob to get out, I had understood the system was then released / reset. I have never locked myself out this way. Perhaps your system was faulty?

I think I’m going to leave it be given the amount of hassle involved only to be accidentally locked out of your own car. I can appreciate that as have been locked out too when fixing the professionally mis-installed alarm system.
On to the next challenge now, refurbishing a radio panel to replace the previous owner’s effort.
