SERIOUS LIFE CHANGING ADVICE NEEDED!!!

Evening folks, after spending about 14 years in the trade I am considering leaving my job where I currently manage a large garage in Plymouth to trade cars from home.

I'm not looking to make a fortune but an income similar to what I receive now but serious increase of quality of life?

Any input welcome.

How good are you at what you do?

How much to you know about running your own business?

Have you got a good accountant?

Have you checked out the Inland Revenue website?

I'm given to understand that the early years of starting up a new business are the hardest, so I guess if you are going to do it, then do it now, whilst age is on your side. I'm also thinking you have no big family commitments, which is a big plus as you only have you to feed and clothe, and your time is pretty much your own, two years on that may have changed.

Do you have enough funds in the bank to give you a reasonable standard of living for a year,if you don't turn a profit? If you have then you are in a good position. If not then maybe that's your first aim.

I would start with a list of the goals I want to a achieve, a four day working week might be one, is this realistic within the parameters of the job your looking to do?

To run a business from your home will need the appropriate local approvals. Secondly, the real question is: "is there a market for it?" Personally, you can't beat the feeling of "controlling yor own destiny, and ultimately income". And, "the feeling of succeeding against the odds".

What motivated me was not wanting to have any regrets at the end of my life (I wish I'd done this or that when I had the opportunity). What's the worst that could happen? You fail and lose some money, but you're still alive and breathing. And what's the best that could happen? You make a go of it and lead a more fulfilling and prosperous life. Bit of a no-brainer, to my mind.
