Okay so I currently own a 10 reg Fiat 500, it is now a load of crap but it was a brilliant car to start with and now I need a replacement. Realistically I'll own this new car for 2-3 years.

22yr old female, clean licence and low insurance.

Options are:

a) Brand new Fiat 500, completely specced up how I want it, pros: obvs no MOT, under warranty, cons: doesn't feel too special, not much power
b) Used Audi A1, 14-16 reg. Would be a definite upgrade and I'd actually be able to get up hills and overtake people...

Will be on finance, both below £200 a month. Which one is the best option, which one is going to be better for me now and at the end of the contract?

fiat every time a audi out of warranty can get expensive quickly.
Also consider pcp on a yaris, there only around £199 if you shop around.

Good advice.

Audis are not the "well made machines" you'd expect them to be, and throw up some big bills from the very unhelpful/expensive dealers.

New Polo within budget? Solid image and tech / underpinnings of the just released A1.

Lol how true.

In 2009 I got an S5 as a “company” car that for one reason and another I did not have full use of for 6 months, so got a cracking deal on an Abarth Launch edition.
I did that “man maths” thing justification of the 500, when it breaks down I’ll have the Audi, so no problem.

The Abarth never had a problem at all (till a bin lorry crushed it whilst parked)... 8 years 3 different cars no problem at all with any of them!

The S5 on the other hand was horribly unreliable, mostly related to a gearbox fault. The dealers were the worst part any issue became a problem as they could never find a fault... err it does not change gear??? Err you see how it sits wonky? There really is a problem with the suspension, it’s less than 12 months old so I am not fiddling around with it.

I would never have one out of warranty. The only car I have had that was as unreliable was an integrale... When the car is as special as an hf integrale faults can be forgiven, when it’s as dull as the Audi they can’t.

Op if you want a 500 with a bit more go, have a look at Abarth.

Fiat 500 for me, twin air if possible, or even a Panda twin air ... Or possibly a VW Up!, but the A1 should be the last thing to consider.

Definitely the 500, or a new Polo or Ibiza.

Why have another 500 when you hate the one you have so much?

I think that opening sentence would put me off one again if it is indeed a POS now, have you considere the rivals? Ibiza, Polo, Fiesta, Mini, Mazda2 etc

From the 2 you ask about, id say Audi despite not being a fan of the brand. Its nearly new so already done some depreciating. I wouldnt buy brand new saying that, drivethedeal, carwow etc can get a lot off
