Hi, hoping for some help please.

My wife has an 08 Honda Jazz. Last day or so we’ve noticed s front rubbing/knocking sound when travelling at low speed eg pulling away and slowing down. It is possibly there all the time but isn’t noticed at higher speeds, probably because of road noise?

It seems to be coming from the left front area. I’ve looked underneath and nothing appears to be out of place, I’ve checked the wheel area as best I can but haven’t seen any obstruction.

Any help would be appreciated...

It needs somebody to listen carefully to where the noise is coming from and inspect all the moving parts in that area. It might be necessary to jack the wheel up and spin it by hand to see whether it is coming from brakes, wheel bearings or something in contact with rotating parts. It might simply be brake pads dragging but it might be a more serious problem so I wouldn't be inclined to ignore it.

If you can't find it yourself, take it to a garage.

Brake wear indicator rubbing on the brake disc?
Disc brake shield distorted and rubbing on the disc?
Wheel arch liner damaged and rubbing on the tyre?

You could check if it's the ball joint by jacking the car up, putting it on axle stands (so the wheel is off the ground) and rocking/shaking the wheel side to side, back and forth. There should be no movement or noise.

If there is, then that could be your problem.
