People who put a price tag on a family pet are the lowest of the low.

I remember at school, some of the kids boasting about how much their dog was worth. I didn't get it then, and I don't get it now.

I've seen an advert for, I think, French Bulldog puppies - £1500 each! WTF

As an aside - I did see an advert for a "christmas tree" in someone's garden - It was about 20ft tall and clearly a tree that the seller wanted rid of. And they wanted £100 for it hehe

Daisy our Frenchie whom we re-homed 5 years ago at 1 year old, came with a £500 price tag, there was an ad in some pet re-homing website, we actually found out about her through a friend of a friend, who recommended us to her owner due to us having just recently lost a Pug with spinal issues, as Daisy is deaf he felt that we were a potential good shout as we weren't averse to looking after dogs with problems and she was struggling to find someone suitable to take her.

We ended up paying nothing for her.

Me too. My dog is just a mongrel and cost £30 from a rescue centre. Every year when he has his booster at the vets it costs more than it cost me to get the dog in the first place. If he was a car he'd be written off.

Actually I notice on the vets price list it's cheaper to get him cremated than it is to get him vaccinated. Tempting...

Dog prices are my one singular constant annoyance; we have a Chow Chow and whenever and wherever we walk him we are guaranteed to be stopped and asked how much we paid for him - annoys the life out of me.

I used to tell them the truth then realised this was a silly thing to do and now just say “well you know what they say, if you have to ask” and then laugh - often this has the effect of annoying the person(s) so they just walk off

Can't see the add - but aren't we allowed to sell pets now or something?

They're selling him because he's badly behaved. Like abandonment issues will help that.

Probably badly behaved as he is likely ignored and never walked.

Sounds like a good advert, whats the upside.

That they only want £2000 for him.

I paid £400 for a boxer dog and due to personal things going on I had to give her up, she was 12 months old at the time. Luckily a friend of a friend had her, I asked for no money and have seen photos of her throughout her life, she passed away age 11 last year.

A price can at least stop dog fighters etc getting the dog as they tend not to be paying but get the free ones...

Dog 'ownership' has always seemed like an odd idea to me. I am not a dog's owner. I am a dog's main man. If it chooses to start a new life elsewhere I wouldn't stand in its way.

While i will never ever sell my best mate I do know of someone who fell on really hard times that they had to sell their great dane as they could not afford to feed the doggie or themselves for that matter, they sold it and were heartbroken for ages (the owner in question was an elderly lady ) so not all who sell their doggies are bad I would say
