Hello i have had a disastrous time with my BMW, thinking of taking the garage i bought it from to the Small Claims court under Consumer Act 2015, I had the worse case scenario of having the engine rebuilt at a cost of £3,600 this summer.
I bought the car Mar 2017 for just over 10K With approx 36,000 miles on the clock, about 6 weeks after purchase my big red oil warning light came on intermittently though showing normal oil levels, took it back to a certain car supermarket, when i picked up the car that evening they told me they had replaced the oil sensors, though they never gave me any paperwork showing the work. Early this year after the warranty ran out, Red Oil light came on again, took it back to my normal garage, they replaced an oil intake valve though I had this work done, it did not save my engine the damage was done, a few months down the line the Timing chain went, then it had to be taken to another garage for the rebulid, the garage took photos showing pitting on the cam journals, and oil starvation, the point I am getting at , would the car supermarket have just doctored the oil sensors so that they read normal?
thanks in advance

The N43 2.0 engine you have is a terrible piece of unreliable junk, one of the worst engines ever made.
The oil pressure sensor fits into the block below the alternator and it alters the oil pressure to give the unit what it needs. It's crap and can cause oil pressure problems. The rest of the engine is little better and many are in real trouble at 30-40k.
A solicitor and the sale of goods act are your best options - a pity you paid so much for it as scrapping the hateful turd is not an option.
Where are you based?

Sounds like you've definitely got a bad one there mate. I use a BMW 120i for work, I bought it a few years ago on 62k it's now on 207k and is fine, I've have it serviced every 8-10k as I was told the BMW service intervals were far to long.
I'd be taking some legal advice if I was you, although I'm not sure how long after you've bought it you can go back to them if that makes sense.
Best of luck, hope it gets sorted.

Hello thanks for the replies I am based Peterborough area, I am taking the dealers to the small claims court in the new year I shall be defending myself, using the Consumer Act 2015, i..e that if a fault occurs in the first six months purchase the fault is deemed to be there at the point of sale also if the fault is not resolved that can come under the Consumer Act also, I have bought myself the workshop manual so I shall and read up on technical issues, also I noted on the service sheets they has been long gaps in the oil changes
