Hello all

I (still) have a 2012 Aygo Fire which has had water ingress issues in the past, as I now know these cars are prone to. However, today I discovered a major problem that I need some help identifying.
The first thing I noticed was that my rear seats were wet, both the bases and about halfway up the backs. I knew it was more than just dampness from my coat, as they were absolutely soaked through. I then checked the boot, and discovered that the floor was sodden, with puddles of water in places. Thankfully it's covered with a thick tarp, so nothing in the boot was ruined. But I am now concerned about rust, as I don't know quite how long this issue has existed, and it seems to be a pretty serious one.
I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable can suggest a possible source for this water ingress, how I go about fixing it, and what sort of money I'd be looking to spend?

Thank you

Trevelyan

My wife drives an older Aygo which I've fixed several water leaks on, not sure how the design has changed but it may be worth you checking the same areas. I've found and fixed leaks from the high level rear brake light, both rear light clusters and from the little rubber grommets/buffers which the boot closes down onto. In all cases my solution has to been to remove the part, put a bead of silicone in the appropriate place and then re-fix the part again. So far this is the second consecutive winter the boot has stayed dry!

My other half used to work at a toyta dealership and there was a constant stream of them coming in for leaks and I know they replaced the rubber around the glass hatch as a fix, I think it’s the same issue as the C1

Thanks for the responses. I've already experienced a leak through the high-level brake light, and repaired it by doing exactly what dugmaster suggested. That seems to be holding up well, so I'm fairly confident it isn't the source this time.
After studying things more closely, I still can't identify a definite source. Absolutely everywhere is wet, but there's so signs of any dripping or pooling anywhere, so I'm pretty baffled. I think the first thing I'll try will be to seal off any gaps I can find with some more silicone (round the lights and hatch, etc). I'll see how well that works, and if I still have issues I'll look into replacing the rubber around the hatch. Money is tight right now, so I'd rather experiment first with the cheaper option!
Is there any chance some of the water could be coming up through the bottom of the car? I've never realised until now that the well for the spare wheel isn't completely sealed off at the bottom. There's at least one golf ball-sized hole through which you can see the ground underneath. I do have the plastic cover on, but it doesn't fit particularly well. I don't think for a minute this would be the cause of my dampness problems, but could it be exacerbating it?

Take any wet trim out and dry it.

2 people. 1 inside, 1 outside with a hosepipe.

Apply water carefully (don't just soak everything) around each light, seal, seam etc in turn.

You'll find the source easily.

Owner of a 2010 Peugeot 107 which has started to leak internally. Annoying in this cold weather, combined with a cracked catalytic converter for the third time.

From speaking about it on the Toyota Owners Forum, these are the issues most common to leaking:
1) High level brake light
2) Rear light clusters
3) Boot seal on the glass
4) Vents behind the bumper

I've got leaks in the rear, but I also notice that the front passenger wheel well is damp which points to a door seal being perished. But yeah, the fix for the four above is mastic/sealant and one of those dehumidifier things - as the weather's cold so we don't have any sun until August 2019.

My wifes aygo is leaking water quite severely, it is that bad that the roof liner at the rear of the car is wet and mould is appearing on the liner too.

As the roof is very wet, I will have to check out what is the cause. But I assume it is the window liner or maybe the rear brake light.
