Hi all. The kids have asked Santa for some headphones for their PS4’s but they want them wireless.

Looking around there’s the official Sony ones which are £50 each or there’s a load of unofficial ones for about £20.

Does anyone know if these are actually wireless? As it’s a bit unclear on Amazon and no reviews to tell.

Thanks all. Mods please move if this is the wrong section.

I've got a cheap one that plugs into the wireless control pad, so it is effectively wireless...even though it's not.

Turtle beach are reasonably priced and get the job done.

Fussy little fkers laugh

You're probably best off going for the official Sony ones then, seem to be good value compared to others.

I recently bought these Sony wireless jobs:

At the time i think i payed the full £70 rather than the £50 they're now being sold for.

Funadementally, they're a perfectly good set of headphones. In terms of how they work, you plug a USB stick into the front of the Playstation and they communicate with that. They also come with a 2m (iirc) USB cable to charge them with.

I've had Turtle Beach headphones in the past but i used them once for music and they completely refused to re-pair with the PlayStation. I never managed to resolve it, so I've stuck with Sony's own ones since.

I've heard people say that they don't like the Sony ones as the microphone is embedded in the earphone itself rather than on a boom mike and that that effects speech. I can't say i talk much when gaming so i'm not sure about that, however i use them a lot to talk via Skype on the laptop when working from home and i've not had any complaints from colleagues yet smile

I had that before but it interfered with the internet speed and I got lag when using it.

The official Sony ones are completely wireless but the mics aren't the best.

I have a turtle beach stealth 500p headset, also completely wireless/rechargeable and much better mic. Has a usb dongle that you plug into the ps4 for the audio.

Never had an issue with it and was only about £50-60 I think when I got it.

Probably not the current model anymore though.

My kids had the TB ones they were a bit dodgy charging after a while, I have the Sony and find the buttons a pita, I'm currently using some TB wired, paid £24 and they're fine, they plug in the Ds4 and have one button and a wheel for volume.
