Hi,

I'm hoping to buy my first supercar early next year.

I hope to buy a 1-2 year old car.

I cannot make my mind up between a 488 or Huracan.

Any advice or steer on why you would choose one over the other?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Better off asking this in the super car section of the forum, most people on this side of the forum have no experience with these cars and solely drive a £300 shed.

Test drive them as you'll find that you'll like one more than the other.

488 all day long, I never drive the Huracan (mainly because it's too small inside) and the 488 is just absolutely amazing to drive.
Residuals are 1000 times better too. (Had to be mentioned).

Being completely honest, i'd buy a 458 over either of them. The sound that thing makes is just so pure and addictive.

If you can break the £200k barrier get a Performante.

+1 to that last quote the 458 is for me more special than the 488 & I can't explain why.

Thanks for the replies.

I like the 458 but when you compare the visual aspect of the 458 to the 488... the 458 just looks so unfinished (unless it's a speciale).

The 458 sounds so much better, but it looks too dated compared to the 488.

Can't speak from any experience as I can't afford a supercar (yet!), but for me the Huracan looks and sounds amazing. I'd have one in a heartbeat as for me it encompasses everything a supercar is.

I'm sure the Ferrari is the better steer but for racing around a track or similar I'd be too scared to actually take a supercar and would buy something specific like a caterham or lotus.

Unless it was the performante then it would have to be the 488 for me, though i'd make weird squealing noises if i had the chance to drive either

Why can't you decide which of these very different cars you want the most?

There are very few bad cars made at the moment and that applies even more to supercars, the two you have suggested are both fabulous but very different in the way they look and perform. Only you will know whether your priority is speed, noise, posing potential, brand heritage, lunacy, or value, and if you can't decide which to buy maybe now isn't the time for you to buy one.

The R8 is a nice car, technically competent, good stats on paper, but there is just something lacking there. It doesn't seem all that super next to a Ferrari and a Lamborghini.
