Hello All.

Part of my monthly business activity is creating technical audits and presentations for clients. Up until recently I have just sent these in electronic form, but a few competitors have recently started sending over hard-copys in various formats.

I know it sounds a little backwards in the times we live in, but I'm sure when you have sometimes also enjoyed receiving some that feels nice and is tangible. It's also a good excuse to reduce screentime.

So, having looked around the web there is a lot of choice for customisable folders etc, the costs are wildly different. Does anyone have a good and economical solution for a customised presentation folder that is not going to break the bank?

I should mention it will be small batches at first.

when my mum worked as a self employed secretary she used to use comb binders and cover sheets/acetates/textured card, put together on a simple but effective "machine".

As teens my brother and I would often borrow it to bind our school and college reports, it's quite a cheap way of making a report look a bit more presentable.

Whats the "break the bank" point? Most print shops will bind and cover short runs but as you say there a lot of options. When you move into presentation quality portfolios then yes, it can get very expensive!

How many units per annum? I used to have custom PVC binders with slip covers made, maybe 8-900 a year, worked out to about £6 a unit.

We use that machine to bind contracts documents. We have some thicker nice paper for printing on, but a black card sheet at the back and a see through plastic sheet at the front. It's a bit of a faff to be honest, for us, we aren't doing loads of documents, so is ok. If you had to do more than a few of these a day, it would get frustrating.
