As the above, our works are setting up new offices and want to be all modern and upto date with the times.

They have suggested staff have an input and we are thinking of things to suggest to bring it into the 21st century.

We have these to put forward -
Gender neutral toilets
Mulit faith rooms for prayers
Video conference rooms

Any suggestions?

Want to enter the 21st Century for desk jockeying?

Get everyone to work from home.

Video Conferencing - Yup what's the point of a VC room? Can't everyone dial in? ( Don't forget to change out of your PJs)
Tailored Faith Prayer rooms for each employee if required - Tick - DIY - or use local their facilities
Environmentally Friendly? - No commute, no pollution - Tick

and you still have time to occasionally browse PH when you're working

I assume you have sufficient "safe spaces" for anyone joining the company straight from university?

Not working today.

Dial in & enviromentally friendly are all good when they want it but they dont let staff work from home - thats only for the big wigs.

A stress free room with puppy dogs would be funny - may add it to the list.

We were joking about having a cold room for the snowflakes.

Things that are important for me:

  • Changing room with shower and locker, with space to dry wet kit for those that commute by bike.
  • Access to adequate fridge space and a microwave and kettle.
  • The right IT infrastructure to be able to do the job. (Decent laptop with docking station and extra screens.
  • Desk and chair that adjust to the right height for me.
Things that make life easier if they are around:

  • Parking / public transport options for when I can't be arsed to cycle in.
  • Catering options for when I can't be arsed to bring food in.
  • The right IT infrastructure for when I can't be arsed to come in.
Stuff other places have had in the past, which were actually useful:

  • Sports masseuse came in once a fortnight. (Paid for by the employee, but given space to work.)
  • Onsite gym.

The office building I work in is falling apart - no facilities, toilets break at least once a week, aircon knackered... the landlords seem to want us out.
However, we're moving to a swankier looking office about half a mile down the road soon. I was just looking at the website, which proudly claimed it had "showers, and 2 bee hives".
Im hoping they are quite separate from each other...

Agree with all of these.

We moved offices a year ago.

We are in central Sheffield and share the 5 storey building (managed) with 3 other companies.

We have approx. 130 employees spread over 2 floors linked with an internal staircase and have 1 kitchen per floor.

We have lots of breakout areas and plenty of meeting rooms from holding 2-3 people to 50+.

All have video conferencing and 2 huge TV's that you can wireless link to your laptop.

One large meeting room has a bespoke table that doubles as a table tennis table.

Each kitchen has the usual stuff together with an instant boiling water/chilled water taps which are excellent.

Next to one kitchen there are tables and chairs so people don't have to eat their lunch at their desks

There is secure cycle parking in the basement accessed from the car park and locker room, drying room and 4 x wet rooms with toilet, sink and power shower.

We have a posh coffee machine on one floor for every ones use.

We have a clear desk policy and paperless as much as possible.

Huge improvement over our last office which was 25 years old and felt it (I have been working there for 17 years and each summer, with no a/c. was torture)

I do a lot of commercial fit outs for both big and small companies. Knowing the industry you are in would help. Do you have a lot of work from home type work? Could you do with less desks than you already have and share desks rather than have one for each person? Shower and bike store are imperative now really, as suggested above. Small break out areas where two or three people can meet (these can be dealt with by way of the correct furniture rather than built meeting rooms). A breakout area with microwave and decent fridges for people to keep their lunch fresh as well as the milk for teas and coffee. Perhaps have lockers rather than desk pedestals to keep your stuff in (it keeps desks more clear and people bring in less of their stuff). Height adjustable chairs and desks (as mentioned above). Connectivity sockets in every meeting room table or break out area, thus allowing the break out area to be part of the meeting room availability. A quiet room for projects? Writable finishes on walls in meeting rooms (if you do project type work)? If it's a funky, young business then perhaps games and quirky areas may be preferable to the normal stuffy commercial spaces we see a lot of. Most large commercial offices have a first aid room that doubles as prayer space. One for each denomination is unlikely to ever be agreed.
