Golf rear door locks problem

the other week, my 1999 golf was not unlocking in the left rear door. couldn't unwind the electric window either. nothing giving resistance in either the outside or inside door handle. deadlock disappeared down into the door card. now, its working fine. only thing is that I now have the same problem in the rear right door. any ideas on the cause or fix please?
I had this same issue with my 2000 VW Bora (same car basically).
It's the door lock mechanisms - there are micro switches which basically stop working properly (dirty contacts) and the only fix it to strip the entire door down and repair.
Sometimes there are bad solder joints too.
This is how you remove the door lock assembly
And this is how to repair / replace the switches

It's a pita to do by the look of it. (I got rid of my car)
Other (I believe to be related) faults my car developed was it would unlock itself, and also randomly down all the windows...
Locking and unlocking it via the drivers door seem to help for a while.
