This has been an awful week on the stock exchanges with another 3.15% drop today. Their are several reasons including Brexit doubts and threats of a trade war.

I’m not brave enough to call the bottom but surely we must be getting close. I’m going to put some money into the market tomorrow.

Anybody else feeling brave?

Nope

Some companies are beginning to look interesting (sector specific) but we are now only getting back toward “realistic” levels for most now, and that’s if you believe the E of the P/E or the NAV of the P/NAV or the FFO - not sure I do depending on what happens over the next few years...

That and the equity markets will always over-discount everything, even when businesses have turned the corner.

Plenty to go (down) yet, depending on the macro

(All in my personal opinion)

What makes you think we are close to the bottom? We could be in recession by April, then we'll see a real drop.

That’s the point, nobody knows and the markets hate uncertainty.

There won’t be a man ringing a bell to signify the bottom. I’ve added some £’s this morning (Britvic) and will continue to drip money into the market.

That’s likely the best plan if you’ve got a long-term investment horizon and are taking a TSR view

For somebody wanting to park cash for a shorter period I’d be wary

The talk in the mainstream media of this apocalypse which has wiped out this millennium’s gains is very much a half truth.

It completely ignores what happened right at the start of this millenium which was still very much in the process of correcting/bursting the dotcom bubble.

As has been pointed out, the markets tend to over correct so it probably isn’t time to buy just yet. Equally, whilst it’s not been nice watching my notional money take a hammering, I’m not inclined to tan my wrists in a hot bath.
