Hi PHers, I've been a lurker on here for years but never really bothered to post much. In my 15 years of driving, besides a 1.0 12v Corsa (absolute animal) I've always had (mostly) hot hatches.

- Clio 1.2 Dynamique
- Clio 172 Ph1
- Clio 182
- Twingo 133
- Clio 200

The last three were all from new, so it's fair to say that I like a french hatch. Along with all the turmoil that goes with it.

A few pics of the 182 & 200. The rest were all pretty standard cars really. Nothing interesting!

Anyway, I've always liked fast estates and recently have been getting back more into MTB so the Clio wasn't getting much use (1500 miles between MOTs) and I was hacking around in an old 1.2 8v Clio. Not ideal.

Man maths happened, I sold both the Clio 200 and 8v beast and went into the classifieds with my cash. This always ends well.

After a while, I ruled out the R estate as they carried a huge premium & most were tired/leggy that I looked at. I viewed a few rough 335ds and was almost going back to the drawing board when this came up. It's a May 2012, so one of the last E91 335ds, obviously LCI and has an option list that goes to three pages... but weirdly no electric seats. Hey ho, it had the weird electrically-retractable towbar though. Hmm.

It's covered just 41k, has FBMWSH and it's one owner... and it wasn't black. Main options are adaptive bi-xenons, Rotbraun leather, Harmon Kardon, Pro Nav etc. All the thing you'd want. I left a deposit without seeing the car and collected it the same weekend.

I've had the car for a few months now and I'm still adjusting to just how capable it is at everything. Obviously, it's not going to be darkening any track day pit lanes but I'd go back to the Ring in it. It'd be a comfier trip than it was in the 200! It's absolutely ballistic in real-world conditions, a proper weapon.

Plans are to get it serviced at BMW in January, then remapped/buy a JBD module once it's been given a clean bill of health. Not that it needs it, but why not eh. I've also bought a few aesthetic mods for it, some black exhaust tips and 12mm Eibach spacers. Also planning to de-badge it for stealth.

I'll update this thread as things progress.

Some pictures when I did a pre-winter protection detail:

Cool car and nice spec. Interested to see how you get on with it. Must be a real contrast after owning a string of fast Twingos and Clios!

Very! In a good way though. I used the last Clio very little and was just a depreciating toy since the market just fell out for them!

I sold just in time really. I'd be keen for another but it'll be when we move house and have more room for things.

Good purchase. A friend had a saloon which was remapped, made it ridiculously quick for a Diesel family car and improved the mpg.
Enjoy.

That looks lovely OP. thumbup

I don't do enough miles to justify a diesel, so when I was looking for an E91 earlier this year I bought a cheap 325i which I really like.

BTW even if you do de-badge it, those of us in the know will be able to tell it's a 335 from the tail-pipes!

Well that's a rarity. I've been idly looking at 335d adverts for a while now, and was gradually coming to the conclusion that they discontinued it at the LCI change, as I only ever see pre LCI cars for sale.

Looks tidy. A slightly odd external colour & seat combo

My brother had his 08 335d mapped by Angel tuning with great results

Proper performance & still 45mpg overall!

That's lovely OP, and well done finding a touring in that spec. I've got an E92 335D as my daily and it's been absolutely solid, I just ticked over 180k on it last month. Still on original turbos/dpf etc

Looks brilliant, was this the one that Lee had for sale? ...if so then I looked long and hard at that, but it was complete overkill for what I needed, it's a stunning colour combination IMO. cool

That's the one. TBH, it was complete overkill for me... but man maths kicked in.

They really are. I was looking for months before this popped up, they're a fairly rare machine especially LCI with a decent options list!

Cheers. That's what I like about it, it a bit different from the usual Space Grey/Black leather!

Brilliant. You hear horror stories, but that's mostly talk and happens with abused/poorly maintained examples.

If you keep them serviced well and don't get greedy with mapping, the M57 is a solid lump.

Looks great OP. Makes a change from black and black, which is what mine is! 335d's tend to be pretty robust. Just make sure the gearbox is serviced every 50k or so. Makes a huge difference to not only the quality of the shifting, but also the longevity of the 'box itself.

That's on my list for next year for sure, being on 43k now. Would you recommend anywhere in particular? I've heard that it's a specialist job. I'd want to use OEM ZF parts too.

A good BMW specialist near you should be able to do it. The ZF service kit is about £250 from memory, for the ZF oil, pan, filter and mechatronic sleeve.

Fantastic spec, I just love the E91 335s that twin exhausts mean so much to those that know.

I’ve had 2 E91 335ds, highly recommend a remap, both mine were done and it improved MPG and the performance (for a diesel estate car) was hilarious.

Debadge it, only those that know can differentiate between this and a lower spec car

Thanks! It's going to be debadged this weekend, I'm just waiting for some new clay and polishing pads to remove the hologramming that the badge will have left.

Where did you go for your maps? I'm probably going to go for a Berger Motorsports JBD unit rather than a live map. I've heard great things about them, plus they're removable if I ever sell the car. I agree though, they're a stonker of an engine, torque from pretty much zero revs.

Nice colour combo, i put 160k on one (saloon) with minimal problems, and melted more than one set of tyres on track.

An extremely capable machine. Enjoy.
