Yellow Tuscan on PH
Discussion
i was also looking at this one with interest. the owner, justin is a good chap, i nearly went down to see it with my cheque book. in the end my girlfriend convinced me to get a crystal topaz tuscan but judging from the discussions i have had with justin, it seems like a totally sorted car with a decent warranty. all the main bits have been done plus he recently spent £££ getting niggles sorted out. personally at that price, i could live with the colour (although I am not passionate about it) but i do know there is a definite "yellow TVR" camp among tvr circles.
Well thats just it i personally love the colour hence the colour of my current car,,but and its a big but im finding it very difficult to get a seller or decent px price due to the colour, which would concern me buying another the same colour,
Idealy id love the Viper Blue with cream, biscuit or similar interior

That seems like you are talking about by my (ex)car.
It was pretty sorted, and I spent a bit sorting all the common niggles before sale, and got shocked by the value I got for the car (£18,000) compared to what I thought I would originally get (£22,000). From my experience the fact that it did not have a rebuild shook a lot of people, but with 26k on the clock it was debatable if it would ever need one. I think you are right about the colour as well. I must admit that until i saw the car 'in the flesh' I didnt like it, but seeing it next to other Tuscans, it certainly stands out! After all, if you dont want your car to stand out there are plenty of other cars to get...!
However, i fell it did hit the resale value, as it is a colour that not a lot of people would choose given all the options, for example I think if it were black it would have been sold a lot quicker! In speaking to dealers as well, they said it was the type of car which needs someone who likes yellow. Otherwise they could be stuck with it for a while, thus they reduced their price accordingly, for example I was offered £12-15k by most TVR indies!
I would say if you like yellow go for it, especially if you are looking to keep the car for at least a few years, to spread the depreciation costs. Otherwise just go for a crystal topaz, which after all looks great, and for the extra grand or so will save you more in resale value.

Yeah, it was sold who a guy who was in the trade but also a TVR enthusiast so I think he is keeping it. I saw on your other thread about the fire damaged tuscan, at £16995 he is probably about 4k off what he will actually get for it. It is hard enough selling a year 2000 tuscan, but with Cat D as well.... I think he has been selling that car for more than 3 months from memory.
I would be surprised if many year 2000 Tuscans make £20,000 or more on private sale as I sold mine for £18,000. I was surprised about the market dropping so quickly myself, but there are bargains out there without getting a Cat D car you will never be able to sell.
