Folks,

Mum is 69 and still likes to drive in a spirited fashion. She currently has a Mini Cooper Clubman (08) and an old Polo as the dog car...

Polo has finally gone to car heaven today.

She needs a replacement for both cars, it’s bonkers her not just having one all rounder so...

Up to about £5k
Petrol (purely due to usage)
Decent driving
Not humungous but... can fit a lurcher and lab in the back, so probably estate
She tends towards the more ‘premium’ brands. She is thinking Golf...

That would do :-)

I'm a Beemer fan and to me that's good value and ticks all the boxes for your Mum.

I think so too... although it’s bloody miles away so I have a long drive next week!

Perhaps too sensible, but what about a Skoda Fabia estate?

1 Series, Audi A1 or A2 or A3 or Merc A Class? Or Jaguar E-Pace? All lovely inside and spacious, you can put the rear seats down in all

E-Pace? :haha: Sod that, she’s not made of money!

She’s a bit of a badge snob so the Fabia might not work. I think 3 series might be the way to go

With age there are certain comfort factors that need to be considered:

Entry and exit height / ease of.
Good visibility.
Compact dimensions.
Cheap to run & own

Skoda Yeti is a good shout. Some sort of KIA like the Venga that still has a few years of the 7 year warranty.

I was going to suggest the Yeti myself. Ideal as a robust runabout

Haha, before dropping back into this thread I saw my mum for lunch.

I actually suggested a Skoda Yeti, think it’s a great idea. She thinks it is an old person car rofl

It's on my list of cars to consider when the 159 dies.

As a skier and mountaineer it's ideal. If that makes me 'old' so be it biggrin
