First Interview Since I was 19......Any Advice?

I recently moved to a different area of the country, but due to the house purchase taking 6 months as opposed to the promised 6 weeks the job I was going to take fell through. I've just been invited to a job interview for 12:30 tomorrow, but the last time I had a proper interview was when I was 19 and just out of school, every job I've had since has been through an agency or informal chat. So I want to make a good impression, but am on unfamiliar ground.

Aside from making sure I'm there in plenty of time, reading up on the company in question and ensuring there are no creases in the suit, does anyone have any advice? I will fully admit I'm not very confident or outgoing, and whilst I will always work hard and feel my experience matches what they are looking for, I find it hard to sell myself in that way. If it comes to the famous "why do you want to work for us?" question, what would be the most favourable response? Thanks!

This kind of question is always hard to answer.

You've managed to secure an interview, so they want you and your skills as much as you want to work for them.

It sounds like your attitude is correct so far, so all you can do is just be yourself, and see what happens, ask them plenty of questions as well to make sure it is the role YOU want, it's a two way street.

I had one first one in 25 years recently my last one was in 1993 i found it a lot easier than i was expecting.

Simply put, go on the web, find out a bit about the company, if they have moved, you can always interest with that sort of info casually shows you have done some research.

Tricky questions are just that, I always try and have an answer prepared for the weaknesses one, which is a stupid question anyway.

Be honest, be yourself, if there are things being asked you can't do, say you can't do them but are prepared to learn.

The interview itself went well, no trick questions and the feedback was positive. But unfortunately there was apparently another candidate who had previous experience within the industry, so I lost out. Oh well, at least it's good practice for next time.

Yes, at least now yo can say its not your first interview since been 19!

Having feedback is good, no harm in chasing up further with them if you feel you still have more to learn.
