Problems with a solicitor - What do i do?
Discussion
Hi
Im hoping you can help.
I completed on my first property in July.
At the time of purchase there were works expected on the outside of the building for which the seller's solicitor was to hold funds back to pay for.
Ive now had the letter from the management company demanding those funds and have been trying to contact someone at my solicitor's who can either contact or put me in contact with the sellers solicitor to get those funds released.
I have had no luck and have phone maybe 20 times and sent 1 email.
The email had no reply and the phone calls have either resulted in me being told they would pass a message on to the person who deals with after sales or the call was forwarded and subsequently goes through to answerphone.
Im am sure this is not coincidental.
What do i do?
The bill is due on the first of Jan, so really i need to settle it before the Christmas break.
I need to get hold of the sellers solicitor and have no means of doing so without my solicitor playing ball.
Ideas include contacting my lender to see if they can put pressure on the solicitors or threatening some sort of ombudsman?
Help!
Thanks in advance.

Try the estate agent they will still have details of who the other solicitor was.
After posting this i thought i should stop being a fanny and try the suggestions i made. The lady from HSBC managed to get a response straight away from the solicitor and apparently a letter went in the post yesterday.
Problem solved (hopefully)
Thanks for the suggestion and im ashamed to admit i didnt think of that
. I will try that if i dont hear back.
