Clutch: £130
Other bits: £110
Labour: Bought myself a few pints.

That exhaust was a bd to get off and fiddling with the UJs, prop shaft and gearbox took nearly 20 hours but, I couldn't justify £700+. Shop around.

What ever you do replace the release bearing, release arm and pivot. They wear and if they break you have £300 worth or labout for a few pounds worth of parts.

Steve
www.tvrbooks.co.uk

PS TVR have used a variety of clutch parts so always get the bits after you have seen what they have fitted.
Don't use a Rover one they don't last. Don't use a twin plate as it will break the transmission.

Ray Webb V8 developments - Does genuine balanced AP Griff 500 clutches £130 +VAT, and release bearings @ £20. As for fitting - do it yourself takes about 6 hrs. No need to change pivot arm as there is nothing to wear, check the shaft into the slave cylinder though.

Change the pivot arm! Doesn't cost much but they do wear and they do bend and when they do they lock the clutch pedal and it is recovery time. Been there, done that. like many other TVR owners. It is a false economy not to do it .

...with the handy 3 tonne ramp you have in your fully equipped garage.

I took a bit longer - perhaps it was that tea I was drinking. It was cold and had a head on it!!

I know that RPI Engineering bought something like 500 clutches in a deal last year, which would explain why there are a few cheap ones around, these are brand new and worth looking at. RPI 01603 891209

OK I admit it I did use a ramp and partially lifted the engine to make it easier! If Steve advises replacing the arm go for it I guess they are fairly cheap.
