Turbo technics

Oh nice one I've really been looking for someone with the 8v. Is that the dx same as mine? Did you have a switch to change boost pressure? I've found a switch under the dash but I'm not feeling much difference, it goes well but I'm wondering whether it is faulty or if I'm just switching my fog lights on and off and it never had a switch. I've found a few mk1 and 2 golfs with the conversion, but I'm thinking that this scirocco is a pretty rarevthing

I have a 1986 Scirocco GTX with Full Storm interior 8v with Turbo Technics conversion from new. 202BHP at the flywheel as tested by GTI engineering in 1988.
Black with Black Leather and BBS Alloys. Just getting it up and running again after storage. Had great torque in its day and pulled very well from 1,800 RPM.
Looking forward to giving it a run fairly soon.

Have you got a readers ride thread going? If not, get one up. Black with Black Leather and BBS Alloys. Just getting it up and running again after storage. Had great torque in its day and pulled very well from 1,800 RPM.

That’s a rare (and very cool) car.Black with Black Leather and BBS Alloys. Just getting it up and running again after storage. Had great torque in its day and pulled very well from 1,800 RPM.

Saw a nice mk2 scirocco out on the road today it looked tiny now we are all used to giant hippo style SUV’s.
My daughter has a 2017 TSI and it hard to credit what a good drive it is. But 35 yrs ago the Scirocco GTX was special. Had an 1984 Scirocco GTI 1.8 8v with BBS wheels and BBS body coloured body kit but the Turbo Technics conversion made the 1986 one very special and very quick. It needed the P6’s 195/50/15’s to get the best out of it. 0-60 in 6.0 and 0-100 in 16s. In the gears 30-50, 50-70 etc was very fast even in 4th or 5th.

Sorry. New to forum and have never posted on this or other forum before. Not sure how to do this. Will be getting new photos soon so can post those. I need to learn how to use the forum correctly. I saw the post from 2018 Re Turbo Technics 8V Scirocco so therefore my post. Any help appreciated.
My Dad worked at TT's in the mid 80's, somewhere about I have his journal for the period he was there, some interesting bits and bobs in there; we haven't long moved so it will take some finding at the moment.
One hairy conversion they did was a twin turbo 3500 SD1. Plenty of go but let down by not very good brakes along with warp speed that most drivers of the day were just not used to - meaning the not very good brakes got a fair bit of exercise!
One of the most disappointing was a Triumph Acclaim, in his notes was the comment 'Terrible torque steer'
They had their mule XR3 available for regular runs along the A45 and around Northampton looking for XR3/i owners to surprise, quite a few sales were won that way!
Plenty of development work was done at TT's for the production Escort RS turbo. https://www.turbotechnics.com/our-heritage/
Dad did a lot of work on the RS1600i and VW GTI kits that were popular back in the day too.
Dad always said the VW engine mated to the Ford box would have been the best of both worlds,

Hi and welcome. Also interested in hearing more about your car. If you browse to the forum home page you'll see a load of subforums. Under "General Gassing" (blue banner) and 7 sub forums down you'll see one called "Readers Rides". Pop a post up there
For images I use https://imgbb.com/ as it created the coding you need to input photos to forums. You're looking for the one called "BBCode" on that site - it generates the string which you copy into the box you put your reply in on this forum. Good luck!
