Might be overplaying this but after a phone interview then being selected for face to face interview which I had yesterday I was just wondering if I have messed up.

I am 50 next year and removed all possible references to my current age in the application process for fear of being overlooked as I am sure many companies treat lots of people over 35 as past it.......so I played the game.

Had a good F2F meeting yesterday but in the interview confirmation email it said I must take along ID birth certificate letters etc.....

I was asked for these at the meeting not long after it started and I handed them over really not thinking twice. I was interviewed by two youngish ladies probably not far half my age say early 30s. the interview continued and I left after being told I would be advised in about a week.

apparently its all about my eligibility to work in the UK and that I am who I said I am...... fair enough but now thinking why ask for this now at the selection stage? Is this a back door way of clarifying my age so behind the scenes when photocopying my birth certificate they think oooh almost 50 forget him?
hate to think I am right but it is a niggle.

obviously if in 1 week I get an offer then my post has been a complete figment of my imagination.

Its just something that the woman in the initial phone interview happened to say to me "yes we have very young team here". at that stage nobody knew how old I am.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's quite normal. Good luck.

Right to work checks are supposed to be completed at the initial interview stage; don't worry about it. If they were diligent enough to ask you to bring it along (many company wait until the offer/first day stage) then chances are they get dozens of certs/IDs a week (assuming they are busy hiring) so (in the best way possible) yours aren't going to stand out. If you're not successful the data is deleted.

Very common nowadays and i wouldn't read anything into it!!

But you do seem to a be worrier (just look at the 7+ posts on here) asking varying questions which in reality are all normal things which happen in recruitment nowadays and maybe this is coming across in your interviews and why a role hasn't been offered to you yet..!

Not saying it's a criticism but you seem to focus a lot on the negative not the positive thing like you got an interview in the first place!
