First of all, the reveal is close as to which one I've bought. It is fantastic! After a huge amount of soul-searching I sold my 350bhp 89 G50 hot rod. It was too uncomfortable and too agricultural for my (and Mrs Bert's) needs. The 997.1 GT3 drives with amazing similarity, just faster and better for the current purpose. And a straight swap in price terms. I'll miss the Stealth Bomber, but the GT3 will definitely get used.

And to the main topic, I'm doing the Oulton track day in the Spring (or is it late winter?) and the car doesn't have its harnesses, having talked to previous owners this was from very early on.

I don't really want to shell out close to £1000 for a pair of new Schroth ones, lovely though they are. Anyone have any alternatives to suggest, or a pair of harnesses they would sell, rent or lend? Preferably not used in anger previously!

Thanks
Bert

Hi Bert
What Gt3 did you get in the end. And how do you find it.
Regards Darren

Excellent.

Are the PCCB still the original ones?

cool

I read threads about this car and it looks like it’s had a pretty easy life despite its mileage.

Great purchase 👍

Yes, it turns out that I know Roger who did the mega miles. It has been maintained for a very long time by Fearnsport who did the ppi for me. Other than a few cosmetic things like a worn out gear knob, it was all good. It's on new KWs, new tyres, leakdown could barely get to 1%. Obviously there is wear, but hopefully it'll do the job for me.

That’s the same chap who did mega miles in the blue 996 GT3 isn’t it? Do you know if he is still doing mega miles, and if so, in what car now?

It is! Not sure of current car, nor mileage.

Great news Bert and well done... it had a seemingly impeccable service history so not surprised it wants for nothing and great news on the leakdown test...

did you haggle at all?

Bert

I would be willing to sell my passenger original Schroth harness. PM me you details and I will send you photos. These are like new, I used them in my 997 and 991 GT3s before the madness of flippers started.........Now moved on to a fast trackday car.....LOL

It's a LHD '69 T with a bit of E going on in the engine bay and a bit of S in the suspension and looks!... the antithesis to the GT3. It came from Lee Mayor Porsche restorer who did the rep to sell to David Beckham. So it's a bit of a homage to a rep that Beckham once had rofl

Congrarulations Bert.

Give John at CTR Racing a call, he can source you a motorsport set for a lot less than that.

See you at Oulton

Congratulations!
As a couple of others have suggested, keep checking eBay. My 997.1 CS had the driver's harness fitted (which had expired in terms of FIA scrutineering!) but no passenger. I bought a brand new Schroth off a Porsche person on eBay and fitted it to the passenger side. Then, I noticed the width of the belts was narrower on the new harness! I couldn't cope. So, I bought another one on eBay (this one came with a 991 fire extinguisher which doesn't fit the 997's carrier).
The result is, I have two, matching, almost new 991 harnesses. I hope you get sorted and have fun at Oulton Park.
