I recently posted about my errant 968 cabriolet hood which fell apart with a bang during a vigorous cornering manoevre, leaving me with a bolt I couldnt get back in place and a hood stuck in the down position. Never have I been so interested in the weather reports.
Saturday a.m so oaktree garage (my usual) was closed. I rang the local OPC who were very helpful. they told me the whole hood needed taking off and realigning. 1 day to remove hood, replace bolt, 1 day to replace and realign hood. So 2 days labour at, say £100/hr inc vat. You can guess what I was thinking. As I was a bit desperate (its my work car) I decided to take it down to them anyway but then it began to rain so I was forced to abandon till monday.
Monday a.m I rang Crispin Manners at Oaktree to see what he thought. He mulled over the problem for a bit, confessed to not having too much experience with hoods and then when he sensed my increasing nervousness and desperation, calmed me with a single phrase....

"If man can make it, man can mend it..."

and he did. took the car in that evening. 3 hours labour. fixed. picked up next day. Deeply impressed. and dry
