2014 Seat Leon 2 litre TDi problems
Discussion
Hi,
I am having a mare with a 2014 Seat Leon TDi, the problems started when the cooling pump failed with the shroud in the closed position so the pump was flowing the minimum amount of coolant. The Engine spat out the coolant from the header tank and the heaters went cold.
We had the coolant pump replaced but the bag of silica crystals had ruptured in the header tank, and blocked the heater matrix. The system was flushed out by the first garage and every three or four days the coolant warning (Red stop car now!) would come on, after the hearers would go cold, and when the car was checked there would be coolant over the offside engine mount under the header tank. It went into a Audi VW specialist and was with them a week.. they carried out a flushing procedure and replaced the header tank and the heater matrix. I took my wife to collect it this evening, and on inspecting the car there was coolant on the engine mount?!? It was warm from the test drive.
We were assured that was from the bleeding procedure and he cleaned it off. On the way home less than 30 miles into the journey home the low coolant stop now warning came on again.
Please help.
My wife wants to reject the car as we have had it only three months and bought it from a car dealer.

The bag of silica crystals ruptured ???
WTF ?
Standard in many VAG cars. Supposed to prevent corrosion in aluminium components (means you can leave the coolant in for longer?)WTF ?
Lots of cases of it bursting/leaking and causing the heater matrix to clog.
OP have you had the water pump replaced /tested?

Water pump was the first thing replaced along with the timing belt, the idea behind the bags of sLots of cases of it bursting/leaking and causing the heater matrix to clog.

te, sorry crystals is deionisation of the coolant to prevent corrosion. The auxiliary pump has been tested as well. It’s a bugger to say the least.Huskyman said:

Very little of that makes any sense and I suspect either somebody has simply made stuff up, or it has been severely lost in translation along the way. My best guess is that you have had a water leak that somebody tried to fix with radseal or similar, and a failed 'stat. Anyway, if you bought from a dealer recently then I'd say this is the dealer's problem, not yours. You're outside the 30 day window when you're entitled to unilaterally reject the car, but you're within the six month period where you can reject the car after one failed attempt to repair it unless the seller can prove the fault was not present when the vehicle was sold.

Header tank crystals is 100% genuine. https://forums.ross-tech.com/showthread.php?8529-F...
