2 Series Screen Washer

I have the M240i with the Screen and headlamp washers. When filling it I seem to have an awkward filler. The tube has a blanking plate with a small slot on the side and filling it takes a while. Is this normal or am I being a bit thick and need to remove the blanking plate??

No that’s normal it’s a faff but you can’t really use a funnel with it, I just pour screenwas into a jug and do it that way
