I've attached a pic of the condition of my front cover and oil pump gears which do look pretty scored. As new covers are not available, it seems that new gears and 'hope for the best' is the only option as there's no guarantee that a second hand one, if it can be found, would be much better.
The other possibility, since I don't use the distributor, would be to use a GEMS cover which is available. Unfortunately, since the engine is presently out and away for work, I have no means of checking whether the later vertical position of the oil filter would fit? Possibly using a shorter filter?
Has anyone gone down this route?
Best, Dougal.

TVR Parts list them, but if you enquire, you are told that they are obsolete and unavailable, although they sometimes have some good secondhand ones. I haven't yet found anyone with new (old) stock.

Sold my spare front cover last week
They are about you just have to keep your eyes open

Be careful where you get the new pump from
I got one from island 4x4 and it didn't fit correctly
I'm still waiting for a response from them after 10 months

Being such a critical item I bought my pump gears from turners.

I’m pretty sure I have one in the garage, it’s been used but in good condition, I will dig it out tomorrow - and if you are happy with a used cover - it’s yours.

So I just went for a quick look - and found it straight away! There is some marking but purely superficial - you can’t feel any scores with your nail- but certainly looks fit for purpose.

The down side is it’s red - but will clean up and come off.

Let me know if any use to you fella,

Dave, that's a very generous offer. Without wishing to 'look a gift horse etc' what does the casing surface look like?

Looks pretty good to be honest, not brand new but very useable. Let me know if I can send any more pics.

It’s not going anywhere mate, so if you don’t have any joy on the new front - it’s here so if you want it it’s yours.
