Sure this topic is on here already but what do people think about these over next few years?

I will be changing car within next 12 months I expect but am looking at my Z4Cs and thinking it seems a shame to get rid of it now if I can help it and tempted to hold on to it for longer as well if possible.

Do people think there is much scope for these to move?

They seem to be holding stronger than the Z4MC BUT I guess that itself puts a limit on the Z4C.

I'm on my 2nd 3.0Si Sport Coupe.

I bought my 1st in 2014 and sold it after 8,000 miles in 2016 for a few hundred more than I paid.

Then I realised what I had done, so I bought my current one in 2016 and 10K miles later I don't see it fetching quite what I paid - especially right now, but that might be the time of year.

I honestly can't see them doing any better than holding their value, and that is based on limited use - values seem to plummet once you get to 100K miles.

A good MC might just creep up in value, and I think that is the main reason 3.0Sis aren't dropping as they are the next best option!

If you want a bit more feedback head over to "z4forum" and ask the same question. thumbup

They seem like good candidates to be future classics and their values are doing better than the similar Nissan 350z but until the rough ones end up in the scrap yard, I think their values are going to held back from material increases.

All depends on the condition of the individual car and what time line you’re looking at. Next 2 years, I doubt it. Next 10 years, more likely. (Assuming the economy hasn't crashed).

I think rarity is a factor - less than 2,500 3.0Si Z4 Coupes got registered in the UK.

I'm hoping this is a good thing, as I've got one! laugh

I'm after one at the moment, mainly because my 550I is mostly surplus to requirements, I have a soft spot for the tin top Z3 and Z4s and I can't see the Z4C getting much cheaper so it makes sense to do a swap. Plan is to stick it on some CSL wheels and supercharge it so it has an acceptable amount of poke but plans are being somewhat held back by the fact that every single one for sale at sensible money appears to be a nail or has an auto box!

If anyone has a nice manual one let me know!

Given your history of lairiness why not look for a Z4M Coupe as a starting point - I'm sure they have been supercharged!

I have a manual 3.0Si but it's a keeper - the best car I've had so far.

A good point three times over but I do rather have a history of taking the versions which aren't "top dog" and delivering performance from them which is beyond the OE's "top dog" laugh

Just buying the "fast one" is the boring way to do it.

Sorted now - I've deleted 2 of them! No idea how that happened though. confused

I've read a few of your threads, so know you don't ever keep cars standard for long - and it makes fascinating reading. thumbup

Values have been creeping up over the last few years and I think this will continue. They have all the hallmarks of a future classic: limited production, straight-six NA engine, special but useable. Automatics likely to be less desirable.

You can do all you like to the boggo 3.0 but it still won’t be an M. Wrong engine, wrong steering, wrong diff, wrong brakes, wrong suspension, etc. Struggle to see why you’d bother.

IIRC Billy you had a "boggo"- albeit not for long. laugh

Given that "Ms" are at least twice the price of 3.0Sis there's plenty of scope to get a Quaife from Birds, upgrade brakes & suspension and still be way below M values. The N52 engine is terrific - but can always be supercharged.....!

I'm sure that would appeal much more to PPBB!

The initial question from the OP was about values and the sure thing is that unmolested, original cars always hold their value better.

If you want to mod a 3.0si, get a cheap one!

Good low mileage mint Si’s are getting hard to find

Prices seem to have softened a little over the last few months, but most of the cars I’ve seen for sale have been high mileage and/or rough

Pristine standard cars will always command a premium in my opinion

The Si in either coupe or roadster form is a very underrated car

There were 3151 Si’s sold in the U.K.
962 Roadsters and 2189 coupes

The rare one is the roadster ..

mine is a high spec individual model with low mileage and full history I’d imagine I could sell it today for what I paid for it 3 years ago

Nice cars command good money

Nicely put. thumbup

Although my 3.0Si is an E86 I appreciate that 3.0Si E85s are rarer - but for anyone who doesn't distinguish the model, E85s are generally around in much bigger numbers than E86s! Which may be why 3.0Si Coupes seem to fetch higher prices than 3.0Si Roadsters?

Then again MCs are much dearer than MRs, even though there were similar numbers of both registered in the UK.

Must be because the Coupe looks better! laugh

I think in the longer term the values will go the same way as Z3’s with the small engined basic spec cars in the bargain basement and the big engine, high spec cars the ones holding their money

Already with the Z4 we are seeing lots being stripped, turned into drift cars or modded. The demographic on the different forums/fb groups is telling

Once those cars are out of the equation then it augers well for the “good” cars that are left

Having said all that I have no intention of selling mine so it’s value is rather irrelevantsmile

Having had one from new IIRC it was 36k its had 47,000 miles put on it over the last 12 years and is probably worth 8k trade it's got a long way to go to pay me back, which it won't ever.

Cheap cars for what they are.

You are right there Wills

Mine was similar new but bought for £8k at 10 years old and with similar miles to yours I reckon I’d get that back for it today

I think they will stay steady for now and maybe rise slightly in the future

I certainly can’t lose £28k on it though

The same cars have been up for sale in the classifieds for ages.

I don't see how values can be going up when there isn't the demand there for the current supply.

The same goes for the Z4MC.

It has been a strange market for the last few months with some very nice M cars failing to sell

But, when you look at the classifieds almost all are high mileage and with unrealistic dealer pricing .. there’s a dealer asking £10k for one with high miles on the clock and another dealer asking £18k for a low mileage one

They should be £5k and £12k in reality .. and at those revised asking prices they would sell

Good low mileage mint cars which are sensibly priced are still selling though

Trouble is too many people are unrealistic about the value of their shed thinking it’s a palace and pricing according to their dreams

And the coupe body is better suited to the bigger engine than the roadster
