Lay up or turn over
Discussion
I have, and have had, many cars that I don't drive over the winter months - and have often pondered this question.
There seem to be 2 schools of thought.
1. Leave it. Starting will introduce wear each time you start a cold engine.
2. Warm it up. Leaving it for a long spell means the oil drains from the top of the engine and increased wear when started.
Who knows? I tend to leave them.

I believe that starting up a car and just running the engine unless you get it fully up to working temperature wont fully remove all the moisture from the exhaust system which is part of the problem.
I prefer a dry daylight run with no apparent salt on the road for a 15 -20 mile trip run out, remembering not to wash the car afterwards without properly drying the brakes out as the inner faces of the discs do like to corrode quietly otherwise with the pads sticking on as well than just starting up leaving it running. Also run the AC continuously for 15 minutes or more when you drive it as that apparently alsois useful.
My 911 is left on the battery conditioner in the garage & I've only once Sorned a 911 for 3 months over the winter.
Store your car in the way suits you best is my advice.
