TOTAL 911 MAGAZINE
Discussion
Must admit, i was a little more than dissapointed.
I go into a mini frenzy when a new Porker mag drops on my mat.
This one came at the same time as GT pure Porsche, when i get a new mag, i generally flick through it 1st to see what articles it has, then pick it up at various times later for the in depth read.
I have spent all my time reading GT, and have not wanted to pick up 911 yet, as it didn't flip my switch when i flicked through.
I know they can't re-invent the wheel or anything, but i was hoping for something a little more different/special/new if you know what i mean.
With the greatest of respect, your car looks stunning in the pics, but a full review on the MKI Carrera is hardly groundbreaking IMHO.
Sorry if i P**s anyone off here, but it's just my opinion.
Wll certainly wait to see next months copy before i cast my final verdict.

Yes, I thought it a very good read. I particularly enjoyed the leading article, explaining why Porsche had gone down the water-pumping route for the 911 series. I'd seen various shorter articles on the subject before, but this one made it much clearer to me. The photography throughout was excellent (IMHO) and the whole magazine has a stylish feel to it.
I queried the section at the end on personal impressions and was told that it is intended to make this a feature on readers' cars, so anyone who wants to try his hand can have a go at writing up his P&J.
All in all, I thought it was an excellent first edition. If they can keep up that standard, I shall regard my subscription as good value.
I can see why Vesuvious would be pleased with this first edition - it's not everyone who gets his car plastered all over the front of a new magazine! Nice pics, though!

Thanks for your input Glenn - sorry to disappoint. We are working on some diverse content for the mag, which is bound to interest some and not others. Hopefully we can pique your interest more with Issue 2.
Bought a copy today. (even though I don't have a 911)
I thought it was a very good magazine, if pricey but aren't they all.
Really I was using it as a reference guide as I intend to purchase an older 911 sometime. I am definately impressed with it and will buy another.
So, it's a big thumbs up from me.

re: pricey, we were hoping to pitch it at <£4, but WHS wouldn't stock it unless we charged more!! Go figure!

John - how long's it been out for? By coincidence I was just wondering this morning actually as I paid up my 60 squid a few months back...
I'm in Spain, so no shocker it's not here yet - looking forwards to the read though!
Hola Ocho
I think all subscriber copies were sent last week - so you should be getting yours pretty quickly. Drop an email to Rob@9publishing.co.uk if you don't gets yours in the next day or two.
Having just read my copy on the Eurostar this morning I'm wondering if anyone else picked up on this. Under Contributors
"US Editor *** *** comes from Scotland, but has set up residence in Los Angeles, where he divides his time between writing about cars and making movies"
It's got to be the same person although it should have said "Divides his time between posting on Pistonheads and writing about cars / making movies"
His name's not in his profile so I decided to retain the air of anonymity.

Got my copy the day after it hit the shelves back home so thats pretty good for a start I thought.
This issue had the ONLY article I've seen on a 996 that made me want to read it. The pics were great and gave the car some well needed "menace" I thought. Articles were more in depth than most of those in 911PW IMHO which has to be good. The model guide at the back was practically unreadable - couldn't you add at least an outline or silhouette of the model being described - all that text didn't make for easy reference I thought. Also for me it would be great if there were more articles in the future on other aspects of the 911 other than how fast it is and how sublime to drive etc etc - how about some in depth on say the design process (if any) at the factory or engine development/design/engineering over the years. Or personalities involved - Harm Laagay, Derek Bell, Vic Elford etc etc. or 911s in other parts of the world apart from US.
Overall pretty bloody good and makes a good change from the rather drab 911PW without going too slick and senseless like GTPP. All IMHO of course.
