If a resolution is worth making, why wait?

And anyway the resolutions made for new year are the ones most likely to fail, because the point of them is to make you feel good in the bloated period following Christmas.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Someone in my family always does a bunch each year, usually
Diet
Travel
Move house
New car
New job

When you suggest why do t you just do it now, they look at you as if you are an alien

What they really want to do is continue to be lazy until new year, then give it a week and revert back to being lazy

Always makes me laugh each new diet / exercise regime always needs a new bunch of sportswear / bottles / supplements. The stuff from the last attempt simply won’t do

This is the year I start smoking. I've always wanted to smoke, but have never managed it. I usually start on 1st Jan with 20 a day, but it soon drops down to 10, then 5, and by the time I get to February, I've given up completely. No will power, that's my trouble.

But this year I'm starting with e-cigs, then move on to patches, and hope they can be a stepping stone to full blown nicotine addiction.

Wish me luck.

Wish you all the best. With a bit of luck it will be white powder for Christmas 2019.

(only joking - I do not condone it but good post!)

Totally agree, it makes no rational sense... yet they've been good for me. Something about a fresh start and all that.

Some of my favourite resolutions were learning to make balloon animals, learning to ride a motorbike (I have 2 now!!), and even stopping drinking after 15 years with a significant problem.

Of course they were vastly outnumbered by all the ones that didn't stick! Still like 'em though.

It's an excuse to put off the change that is necessary. I have adopted the approach of if it need to change it needs to change now.

It also means the gym is going to be redicously busy for a bit, full of weak willed fatties. They will soon be gone though.

The gym that I use was pandemonium in January this year; one of the staff had to stand outside and direct traffic come five o' clock on a weekday evening.

Thankfully all of that nonsense dies down quickly enough and we can get back to normality.

I'm determined, in 2019, to get over my stagefright playing guitar live in front of any audience (I currently get the sts just videoing myself playing alone to upload to YouTube)

My New Years Resolution last year was not to make any New Years Resolutions. Didn’t manage it.

You know, I'd hate to video myself for YouTube, and hate playing in front of friends/family. Give me a pub full of drunk strangers any day!
Just pick a couple of songs most people know and head to an open mic night. That's a pretty friendly audience.
What sort of thing do you normally play?
