What will you be doing ?

I am duty psychotherapist on the addiction ward of a psychiatric hospital.

I'll be running groups for the in-patients in the morning. Next, I'll be on hand for any new admissions and will man the enquiry phone line until 5pm. Then at 5:30pm I'll facilitate a 90 minute aftercare group for ex-patients.

Addiction never has a day off........

Bah handbag!

My wife is working at Samaritans overnight tonight manning the phones. I suspect she will be kept busy.

Not for a few years, but used to do every Christmas mornings cattle feeding and bedding.

Up early and finished before breakfast. A good way to start the day and unfair to get anybody else in to do it, as I lived on site.

Gave me an appetite too!!!

Bloody hell, that's very selfless of her. She'll do a lot of good though.

I don't generally work any day of the year, so it's just another day for me.

Not working- but, working out!

Training hard at the moment- athletic fitness/strength, not to turn into some hulk!

Will be on the local hills, sprint /interval training as gym obviously closed and so cant do cable work I was planning.

Will be making it back for a family lunch but, too be honest Christmas means fk-all to me anyway!!

I do feel sorry for the people that do have kids and/or enjoy Christmas but have to work for various reasons.

I'm in on the early shift, 5am start. Christmas day is just another day for me. Will hopefully try and get away by 1pm.

I was given the option of having the day off but offered it to my colleague so he could have it off instead.

Got boxing day off so not all bad.

I have the day off however I will still do my 2hr commute in to work and back (well at least to the office door).

There’s something soothing about a commute when you don’t actually have to be in work.

I will. It's a job I couldn't do, that's for sure.

Nor I. She is literally a life saver and moreso at this time of year. Treat her well on Boxing Day.

I was working last Xmas and one of the hospital consultants came in with a card for the troops and an enormous box of baklava. Apparently he does this every year. He was not on duty that day and came in especially.

For whatever reason not many people ate the baklava which meant I was chomping on it for days. Lovely.

Yep, Late shift (2-midnight) and on call for the rest of it until 7am Boxing Day. I've only had one Christmas day off in the last 10 years.
