New car suggestions........again.....!!!!!!

Ok, i'm probably getting a bit excited as it's still about 10-12 weeks away, but I need to buy a new car!

Wahey!

The general spec that I want is a 4WD car (ideally), or one that handles very well and is safe in snowy and icy conditions.

4x4 are probably out of my price range but I want something a little sporty with a bit of grunt behind the wheel.

Budget is about £15-20k but i'd like to spend as little as possible.

Ah, also I'm buying on the continent so I guess that could influence things?

Ideas?

Yup! Audi A4 Quattro is high up on the list but it's not exactly cheap.

Another car I quite like but it's not 4WD is the Saab Aero 9-3 Convertible....Just the interior isn't so great but it can carry ski's with that handy ski widget!

Subaru. Dont have to get the nutter mobile WRX some of their larger estates etc are very nice i'm let to believe...

A cheaper alternative to the A4 is the Passat 4-motion. Get the 2.8 V6 (or W8 if you can find one), they're pretty good to drive.

Definately not after an estate. Snow tyres are apparantly a legal requirement in winter so I need these anyway.

I don't know how dealers work though. Maybe they're included?????

Jaguar X Type-either 2.5 or 3Litre

'New' as in brand spanking, or new to yourself.
If the latter, circa £11k buys decent spec Golf V6 4motion.
Not the best handling car, easily sorted by suspension mods, but plenty quick enough and 4wd when necessary.

Mines used daily and while it's had a couple of issues they've not been so serious are to keep it off the road for any length of time.

I did think about taking my car mind but I thought, nah! New car is more fun!

I suspect sir is getting his LHD and his RHD mixed up. (UK cars are RHD)

RS2 or a scooby. I took my scooby to the alps for a ski trip a couple of years ago and it was hilarious. Sideways on snowy hairpins (Snow tyres would have helped)

The vast majority of RS2's are LHD which is what you want.

Go for a Land Rover Defender, and get it chipped to increase the power. Okay, so it's nowhere near as fast as the other suggestions but if you have driven one, you'll find they are surprisingly good fun! Plus, you'll NEVER have to worry about getting stuck anywhere.

It will be a little different to what you've been used to, and it will certainly be 'new' to you! just take one for a test drive and see what you think.

Yep, with the same 1.8T engine as the vRS.
