Just seen an advert on the TV for this account from Goldman.

1.5 % after 12 months or 1.35 % over less time.

That seems pretty good to me. Max 250k.

What am I missing ?

how much would you put in though? More than 85,000? do you think Goldman would bail you out if the British Taxpayer doesn't? Just wondering. we have hedged our bets and put some here and there in case of a melt-down.

One account each for you and the wife with 85k in each would be sensible if you have that sort of cash to stash and nowhere better rate wise?
I've started a Marcus account up and so far so good no worries.

Sums depend on what we do with our ISA for 18/19 and 19/20 but would not be more than the protection that's for sure!

I had a lump of cash to tuck away and it's in one of the new active savings accounts with Hargreaves lansdown. Granted it's not instant access but 2.24% for 24 months seems a big difference when it's cash you're not planning on spending anyway?
