New Cayman 981 GTS owner...in yellow?
Discussion
I'm lucky to be picking up a newly acquired Cayman 981 GTS this coming Saturday, cant wait. I was not even looking for one, but happened to stumble on the ad last week, and just bought it after driving it. I paid little attention to the colour (hard to believe I know), but I was only interested in the driving experience that I had read about. It delivered on the driving in bucket loads, so the decision was easy. I didnt even check the spec fully.
My question here is in relation to the colour. I suspect the (main) dealer has struggled to sell the car, and I i got a good price in my view that no doubt reflects the colour issue to some extent. I think it's a marmite colour that divides opinion. I frankly don't care about resale values, life's to short, and I am lucky to be able to absorb downside. But it is an interesting and relevant factor to others, which i can understand.
But what do others think?
Will post pics when i get it.

I bought my 981 CGTS a couple of months ago and pounced on it the day it was advertised on the approved used website as I had been looking for quite a while and given the colour, spec and mileage the price seemed almost good for an OPC! I did notice your car, assuming it's the one from East London, but whilst I definitely wanted a colour like Sapphire or Carmine instead of Black, Grey or White I couldn't quite pull off Racing Yellow but I do like it. I think the car was advertised for £52K originally and I saw the other day it was down to £46K so I do think you got a good deal but probably as they wanted it gone before the end of the year. Colour is a subjective preference and it makes no difference to how it drives so enjoy it as I did mine yesterday.
Thanks for the positive comments. I was sold on it the moment I fired it up, the sound was trully epic. I actually got a slight deal on the price too, so I think bargains can be had right now. I had been looking at Jag F types/RS3's (original budget had been mid 30's)..was after something with a great soundtrack for a weekend run around, and this hits that nail firmly on the head by a tidy margin, so thought the extra paid was well worth it. I missed out on a 2.7 manual cayman before which had sports chrono, and found the perfect spec for me was not available at a price i was happy with (manual with sports chrono for the downshift blips). So this car seemed a really good compromise at a price I was comfortable paying, with more power, despite colour/higher mileage
it is the East London Porsche one by the way

Well, I think it looks epic. I had a yellow Cayman on loan from the OPC once whilst my car was in for a service, and it was so appealing it almost made me buy one. I really hope you enjoy it, I think it's a great car and it sounds like you got a great deal.
Besides, if you don't like the colour after a few months you could always get it wrapped, and it will still cost a lot less than a 'popular' colour car.
Enjoy!

What others think is irrelevant as long as you like it! On top, unlike buying a car new, you had a discount coming in so you may have a discount coming out, which is fine. But what do others think?
Sports cars are well suited for less run of the mill colours and yours is a great example.
Enjoy the drives!
