Macan Service Dilemma
Discussion
My Macan S diesel is coming up to its 40k service. The basic cost at a Porsche Centre is £560 plus £95 brake fluid change, PDK oil change (around £480), new spark plugs (over £300) plus whatever else they decide it needs to have done. I reckon I'm looking at a bill of £1500 ish if I go down the PC route.
I'm sure I could get it all done a lot cheaper at a specialist (the car is out of Porsche warranty) but I wonder whether any saving on the service cost could be less than the loss of part exchange value because of a lack of Porsche Centre service history if I decide to trade in at a Porsche Centre some time in the future. Does anyone have any ideas about how a non-Porsche Centre service might affect part exchange values at a PC?
The other alternative is to swap the car before the service is due but I can't find a used 6 cylinder petrol Macan with the spec I want and don't fancy a 4 cylinder petrol one. Besides, prices even for the outgoing 4 cylinder model seen crazy at the moment - I've seen a pre-reg one at £70k at one Porsche dealer!

I'd expect an OPC would give you a lot of sucking air through teeth if you were to attempt to trade it in with an non-OPC stamp, as they would not be able to list it as "Porsche Approved", and it would go to auction - they would knock you down on price accordingly. Probably a false economy if you are planning to trade-in..
An alternative route would be to try haggling with a number of OPC's. I know from experience that some may match the price quoted by an indie as I saved in the region of £600-700 on a full set of brakes and tyres on my previous 911 going that route.. in my case that was looking outside of London..

Ask for a written breakdown of what's needed at the age and mileage. It definitely won't need spark plugs....
If it’s a diesel, does it even have spark plugs?

Found this. Extra running costs on a Macan a step back to the 70’s. Transmission must take a lot of strain. Wouldn’t miss a recommended service item just shop around
