Hello all.

I have a convertible BMW 3 Series M Sport 2007. The glove box handle has failed - motor gone - which I understand is a common issue - I have managed to open the glove box and remove the handle, which I want to replace. A quick search online suggests a used one will set me back around £80.

Does anyone know if I could fit a standard handle from a different model (e.g. one that isn't electric and doesn't lock?). Some of them look virtually identical, and they are only around £15. I am aware of course that these will not lock automatically when the roof is down, but I don't intend to store anything valuable in the glove box anyway. I would just like to avoid the £75 price tag, and the possibility that the thing may fail again.

Any help or advice would be greatly received....

Is the handle actually broken or just the motor? On my E46 I had the same issue so disconnected the power supply to the motor. Doesn't lock with the doors but works fine. Obviously a risk that my wine gums could be taken if left with the roof down.

Thanks for responses. Handle is broken and motor. I will get new handle without motor as long as it fits.
Cheers
