Hi. I'm intending to start doing some spannering on my 996 gen 1 and realised I need a proper jack. A book (101 projects for your Porsche 911) recommends a DK13HLQ from AC Hydraulics of Denmark. That costs c£550 and I can't find a used one on eBay. Has anyone got a recommended jack that they use which isn't as costly as this DK13HLQ one?

£550!!!!! Good grief.

Get on eBay or down to Halfords/Machine Mart and treat yourself. Ideally a low profile jack too, around the 2t mark.

The lightweight 1.25 tonne alloy jacks from Machine Mart are good although I did bend one at Spa by jacking up the car on an incline. The weight of the car pulling down the hill slightly twisted the arms. Misuse on my part rather than a faulty jack. I do find these jacks start leaking after a year or two so the quality isn’t great - but they are low entry and very lightweight.

For home use I use the low entry 2 tonne jack from SGS Sngineering. It is steel and therefore much heavier but a great jack with a foot pump as well as a hand pump.
