Right o chaps. The good lady and I are stuck on what to do new years eve. Neither of us drink and we would like to take my partners daughter who is 15 with us. I'm not ashamed to admit we are on a very limited budget but I'm open to any suggestions. We don't have a wide circle of friends and the people we know are elsewhere this year. The teenager is intent that we go out I'm really stuck. We are in Raunds Northamptonshire so Cambs, bucks, beds sort of thing is ok, but I'll leave it to you. I'm desperate and I await floods of idea's. Thank you in advance.

Get a train into the smoke and watch the fireworks. Because, well, why not

Thank you. My partner has work the next day and her dad is coming up from of all places London. Do want to sound ungrateful. I'm trying to think of country house fireworks type thing or anything.

Ah, you're welcome. You've now added extra requirements and variables into the ask. Are you a project manager by any chance?

Anyone. It's not down to poor planning this has just been dropped on us due to very difficult family circumstances.

Fire pit and a BBQ - it’s meant to be quite mild and a nice evening / night

Good idea keep em coming. We just need a garden that our hounds haven't turned into something resembling the Somme. But yes on for the bag thank you.

Why not go for a nice meal at a local place. See in new year and go home.

Our local curry house has fantastic nights on NYE - nothing crazy but good fun and good food.

You’re 25 minutes from Corby. Sounds like a pretty good deal to go for a quiz and a steak pie!

Good deal and a bit of wholesome family fun too!

Can you buy a local paper to see what events are being put on locally? Many will be paid events but you might see who are doing fireworks where you know you can see them for free from a viewing point nearby. Take some snacks, a flask or two of hot drinks, some camping chairs and a blanket and settle down to watch the show!
Otherwise, I'd go for the suggestion from the previous poster and go out for a meal and then back home to watch celebrations on TV.

Lmao ... who’s the adult?!?

Plus, a teen will reject 99.9% of ideas as they’ll be bloody mixed for one specific idea (that’s probably their own)

I'd love it if she did have her own idea. That's half the problem.

That's the thing, they never have any suggestions themselves and yet every suggestion put to them results in a big, fat NO!

Has she not got a piss up with her mates to go to?
