I’ve noticed that these suffer massive depreciation in the first few months. This, for example:
https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/201812183346722
Would have had a list price of around 60k but now, at 7 months old is up for 35k.
What’s depreciation over the next couple of years and 40k miles going to look like? 5k per year sound reasonable?

Alternatively, what 6-cyl luxobarge would you consider? I’d like to minimise depreciation (!) and prefer manufacturers warranty.

Helva car for the money, would expect for it to float down to 20k for a 4 year old example with average miles put on it.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking, although I don’t normally keep cars that long. Could live with c.£300/month depreciation.

Why not go for a 2016 model you can then extend the Warranty when the time comes, also this will be a 640d which will be more desirable.

I was hoping you'd stick your head in here wink

You must be thinking of the old model 640d the GT was only launched in 17 as a replacement for the 5GT. But your point stands - I've looked at older 5ers etc but keep coming back the the 6GT. Bigger initial outlay but similar cost over 2-3 years

What I’ve found is it’s very difficult to sell these GT’s privately - there isn’t much of a market for them. So I’d imagine it would be a case of trading it in when the time comes

Thanks!

Yeah, the 6GT is streets ahead of the 5GT and benefits from the 7er tech. Display key is cool!

I’ve had a CLS in the past, found the Comand system dreadful. They look nice but I wouldn’t have another. A7 is a good shout but I’m not sure I’d go for one over the 6GT unless it was a better financial proposition.
