MBR launches EOS supercar
Monaco sees glittering launch of 500bhp missile
Brackley-based MB Roadcars (MBR) launched its new EOS supercar at last week’s Top Marques show held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The three Formula 1 designers behind MBR were on hand throughout the four-day event to discuss the project with the many visitors to the stand, including actor Sir Roger Moore who officially opened the show.
EOS features a three-seat layout with central driving position, and its advanced aerodynamic shape, with a two-element front wing and side winglets, has been designed from the outset using the latest F1 computer-aided-design and computational fluid dynamics technology. The high-strength monocoque chassis uses carbon-fibre composite materials, which will keep the kerb weight to a 1,000Kg.
Of major importance was the announcement of an engine supply agreement with Mader Racing, who will develop a bespoke engine for EOS based on the all-alloy V8 race engine currently used in the new GP2 series. Mid-mounted, tuned to 500bhp and exclusively badged ‘MBR-V8’, this engine will give EOS a power to weight ratio of 0.5bhp per Kg.
The car's double-wishbone unequal length suspension features inboard spring/damper units activated by pushrod.
“We were delighted with the reaction to our new car from the press, the public and the other manufacturers exhibiting at the show,” said MBR managing director Michael Blaize.
“It’s taken two years to get to this stage, and we’re confident that we will have the first prototype running by mid-2006. We already have some excellent technical partners on board, and the engine deal is the final part of the package. My thanks to Mader Racing for their enthusiasm and commitment to our exciting project.”
Also exhibiting on the MBR’s stand was Martin Braun, one of Germany’s foremost watchmakers. His company is producing a limited-edition watch exclusive to EOS and on show for the first time. One of the most unusual features of Martin Braun’s EOS watches are two unique dials which display the times of each day’s sunset and sunrise in the vicinity of the wearer’s home.
The next outing for EOS is in London this weekend. On Friday 13 May it will be the centrepiece of an exotic car display from 4.00pm until midnight in Bloomsbury Square as part of the celebrations surrounding the start of the Gumball 3000 Rally.

Is this the car we all said looked a bit erm...rubbish, in the drawings?
Yup, I guess so and it still looks shite . . .
But hey:

Performance it has . . .
I was part of one these presentations in another similar project, but after the develpment money didn't come in after the big show, the buck was place in a garage and after 5 years is still locked up in there!
We even showed the V16 cilinder engine........but no luck
"I am, and don't call me Shirley..."
That is one of the most comically ugly cars i've ever seen. Its up there with the Edonis, which in my eyes resembles what a 2yr old draws when they do a sports car...
Hiedous creations destined for bankrupcy.
Why not just go to Coventry, pluck a designer and get them to do the work, like Morgan? The breadth of talent in that place is astounding...
I hadn’t done my homework, and didn’t realise that MBR were a British company, otherwise I would have toddled over for a chat.
Still, glad to know Sir Roger was impressed … wonder if he placed an order !
Must be landing ....,I've seen a few hideously designed cars but this is so cartoonish that I almost feel for them, but maybe my aerodynamics knowledge is not as advanced as this yet.....
I guess the comments of the first post were not taken into consideration as constructive critisism, so they just went ahead anyway .
I guess they are trying to see if someone falls for it and puts development money on this thing.......good fishing
Wish them the best

I try again:
"But where it makes up for its small size and 8-cylinder layout is in its incredible engine speeds. The 90° V8 engine has a redline of 10,000rpm and generates peak power of 368kW @ 9500rpm, which equates to a clean 500hp."
But still:
"It's not the most modern-looking supercar to rear its exotically crafted head since the turn of the millennium, but the new dream machine from British-based MB Roadcars (MBR) promises to take up where McLaren's stunning F1 left off in the late '90s.
If you can get past the blockish 1980s nose of the EOS, (Exigence Of Speed), and you've got a penchant for the fastest cars in the world, you will most likely be impressed with what's on offer."

The McLaren F1's styling was determined concurrently with the cars design.
This car appears to be the other extreme or what happens when the styling is completely ignored.
The moral of this story? Don't give aerodynamicists too much rope. They'll end up strangling your car.
