So we have a few friends dropping round for NYE....& my thoughts are turning to food.

Easy option is to rustle up some home-made pizzas....I can make a batch of dough & keep them coming along as needed, with a range of toppings....
...but I wondered what others here are planning.

How many have you got coming round?

IME if it's more than half a dozen then pizzas, canapes etc etc are a faff. Do something that can sit on the side and be served themselves as they're hungry.

We've had 30 or so round on Christmas Eve for the last few years. Was pizzas and canapes until this year when we stuck to our guns on cutting out the faff - chilli, jacket spuds and garlic bread. Bit of soured cream/lime/coriander, grated cheese and chilli flakes for those that wanted it hotter/a bit of roulette and job done. It was all prepared in advance and just left on the side for people to tuck into.

Much less hassle, meant we could spend more time with guests and was also much less hassle tidying up afterwards.

Bolognese, tagine or curries would work similarly.

Yeah was going to suggest a good chilli with jacket potatos, rice, even taco shells and the various bits and bobs to go with them

We're staying in a cabin for a few nights , party last night . Local store for chips and dips , finger salads etc , then a couple of huge pizzas from a local bar . Easy prep and very little clearing up afterwards .

I think it depends both on how often you entertain, and who you are entertaining, that would determine the amount of effort you are willing to put in.

If it is people you see very rarely and mean a lot, or someone who has helped you out a lot over the year and so on then look to treat more than a Jacket potato! If its the same bunch you always hang out with then yes, go for easy.

Totally depends what you want from the evening.

If there are a lot of you, then be prepared to spend a lot of time in the kitchen for anything "special" (though the OP was thinking pizzas - food of the gods as far as I'm concerned.... But not exactly Michelin star compared to a JP/rice with a decent chilli smile).

With quite a few round for a NYE party my focus would be on simple, tasty food, lots of drink and talking/entertaining the guests smile

Good advice from the collective!
I think we are expecting about 25....& will be going with a chilli/jacket combo, the faff of pizza has been chucked!
All good friends, plenty of fizzy and a few fun cocktails planned (a bloody Mary kit for Xmas needs using, plus some other odds!)
I’m sure it’ll be a fine evening....HNY all, cheers!
