Good evening

My 20 year old golf auto is playing up a bit .

1.The reconditioned gearbox installed 2 years ago is lurching a bit when I pull away from stationary at traffic lights for example. I also noticed that it seams to be a lagging from first to second gear, not always but sometimes

2. Also a few times it hasn't started without me having to rev the engine. It can start after days of being parked fine, first time, then after driving it and parking up for a while it hasn't started without me having to use the accelerator.
3. Its due a cam belt change so I plan to get this done
4. Also want to check coolant isn't leaking as had to top it up this year twice

I plan to take car back to garage to get gearbox checked but as they only specialise in gearboxes then plan to get a service done and get starter issue checked. Am I going the right way about this? Any idea what might be the probs.....

Thanks for any advice and guidance

I'd certainly be looking at having the gearbox oil changed as a minimum, then getting the other issues sorted, so yeah I think you're on the right path.
Fingers crossed for you!

Hi

Which engine does it have? It’s likely to be a sensor issue maybe coolant temp sensor
Any engine or EML lights on the dash?

I’m wondering if the gearbox maybe ok and that the engine isn’t behaving as it should and it’s comfusing the gearbox or making the gearbox appear at fault
