Having to store my Chimaera outside which is not ideal and would like to get hold of a Leven Hood Cover to give some protection until I can sort a garage. Hopefully only a short term problem, does anyone have a cover they no longer need and would be willing to sell?

Anyone?
Or are there any other hood covers you would recommend?

Can you no longer get the Leven covers then?

Most covers use straps to tie them down which can mark the paint. I'd be more inclined to use a good quality cleaner and conditioner and you should have no issues.

I like the Leven cover as it doesn’t use the normal straps but it does seem very expensive for what is a small cover! Hoping I only need a cover for a short time hence I thought I would see if any used ones for sale or good quality alternatives

I should have read your post properly, they do come up second hand sometimes but not very often. I agree it appears expensive but from the people I know that have one they work well and keep the interior dry so at least they do the job.

There is a TVR Tuscan Leven hod cover for sale on eBay but not sure if it would fit and too far away for me to view and try it. I will keep looking or just buy new

I think half the battle is keeping the cover taught so it doesn’t flap in wind and wreck paintwork and the Leven ones do fit very snug from what I’ve seen. I’ve been meaning to get one for years !
I think QBee has one and it works great, im sure his car lives outside...

Yes, it does work well, yes it does fit snugly and yes, my car does live outside.
The Leven cover has flaps that tuck under the rear edge of the bonnet and the front edge of the boot, and the sides are retained by straps that go around the door mirrors. It works because it is well made from heavy, lined, waterproof rubberised material, not cheap fabric.

The other way to keep your car in good order through the winter is to drive it regularly.
There are plenty of dry sunny days.....before you whinge about the weather. It's just such a day here now.

I agree about the regular use and that is another eason why I would prefer a half cover rather than a full one which is a pain to store whenever you use the car. The leven one looks really good but .... £180 plus delivery for a half cover!!

I will definitely have to hide the receipt for that one this close to Christmas

Hi all

I have a Leven half cover 'as new' ...only put on the car once to see how it fitted! Sadly, had to sell the car. £150 gets it!

Cheers

I should not say this, BUT try a Mazda MX5 Roof Cover.

Why not say it?

They are very similar in size to our cars, a good design and have been a joy to many a sports car driver without a fortune to spend.
So there's a good chance that the covers will fit the Chimaera.
Frankly, I would be considering an MX5 as an economical daily driver, if i didn't have two over-excited and medium-sized canine companions with pin sharp hearing to consider every time I dare to go near my car keys on home days.

The MX5 Cover does fit, I,ve got one on my Chimaera at the moment - stops the roof getting covered in dust /droplets of water whilst sat in an old airy Barn.
