Sonos Chome cast setup
Discussion
Hi,
I've been trying to find a solution to a music system for a while. Previously had Sonos, went to check out the Google speakers yesterday but was disappointed. Nowhere near as good as a small Sonos.
I'd like a receiver/Amp so I can play to my big Tannoys.
I'd like possibly 4 other speakers around the house for background music.
I'd like to be able to group them
I'd like to be able to start/stop by voice
I'd like a alarm/sleep timer mode
I have found a solution but it is a bit of a faff as you need to work with three apps.
I have a Chromecast line in to a Play 5. I have a Chromecast and currently a cheap amp for my Tannoys. I can create a group on Google Home and this is seen in the Spotify devices mobile app. Send to this group then use the Sonos app to share the play 5 music with any other Sonos speakers that do not have a line in option. There are some volume corrections to do and I'm not convinced it is 100% in sync but it's pretty close.
I'n the absence of Sonos sorting Google integration on the 'One', is this the best work around or am I missing a trick?
I'm not quite sure what Google integration will actually allow for. I was considering the new Sonos Amp vice Chromecast solution but I don't think it would have mics for voice control. I'd be back to using a line in Chromecast which sort of defeats the point.
Thoughts?
