Someone in the UK just won the euro millions jackpot.

Hope they enjoy it.

Get 7 numbers correct: £114m
6 numbers correct: £76k

That's got to give 5 'lucky' winners some serious mental issues, no?

Noone needs that amount of money most of it will just sit in a bank.

They could make 11 people win 10mill or 22 with 5mill each. More of the money will get spent helping businesses and adding to the economy. Anyone can live off 5 mill for the rest of their days.

Obviously would not say no to the money if I won its just a suggestion to share the wealth wider.

I would really love to know how they force so many people to go public. They must employ a bunch of ex IDF interrogators or something.

Shame is that its not wealth. Its simply a tax on the not too bright. Wealth sharing would be a large number of people not giving money they shouldn't be affording to one or two people who don't need excessive amounts.

Oh wait.

It's the 4 and two bonus ball people I feel sorry for. One number out and they get about a grand.

I believe the only incentive is the provision of gold-edged, top drawer financial advice.

Winning a million or two, with a bit of restraint, your win could go largely unnoticed with any material gains put down to a good year, inheritance or whatever. But at £114m...... that's going to show one way or another.

I expect they have a film crew and press ready and get it done very quickly before people have chance to change their minds whilst they are still in a state of shock.

As for £115m, I would be straight on a private jet to LA. I reckon I could blow half of it in the first 12 months without even trying.

I am willing to take my chances. The alternative is pure, screaming horror and the cratering of your entire life.

Am sure I could find my own perfectly adequate financial advice.

I read their assistance is the same either way.

Supposedly the thing is it's uncomfortable to tell people and you'd have to lie to some extent to friends and family - going public gets it out there in one go.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't do it though!

Mrs Puggit always said that when we won big we'd carry on as normal so that people wouldn't get the hint that we'd won.

So here I am smile

Depends where you are. London or the South East you could blend in easily even with £100m+. Many do.

It does seem staggering how many people go public despite literally everyone saying they never would laugh

I haven't seen anything confirming that it's been claimed.

I wonder if they know yet?

There must be some killer blow they land on every winner who wavers over going public to break them.

I wouldn't tell anyone anything and disappear for long periods, which I do already. If they asked I would simply smash them over the knuckles with a rolling pin.

There's various packages of support and guidance for free with previously verified organisations and people etc. I would imagine certain people wish to show off, or have no clue how to manage that sort of money, so going public probably is appealing.

Me? I'd go private, and i'd be on the first private flight out to the Med somewhere on a rented boat.

Yep. Tell closest family only (maybe not even them) and then get to the other side of the world for a month or so until no one cares any more. Then come home and sort stuff out as secretly as possible.

I've said before, I'm no socialist, but I agree that the huge jackpots should be divvied out between more people.

if you won a million or 2, would be much easier to hide in plain sight. I wouldn't know how to spend over 100 million without giving most of it away to charidee.

In one of the "what happens whe you win" articles there's a story from one the Lottery people that one bloke who won was adamant his wife shouldn't find out! Nothing untowards, apparently, it's just that he took care of the money and that's how he wanted it to be.
